A little talk about recycling and plastic and paper waste

Today is the first day of my Halloween Collection 2019, starting today I will start posting my new collection of handmade notebooks, Most of them are made of recycled paper made by me. The recycled paper that I make takes about 7 days to completely turn into paper. The reason it takes long is because I use sun to dry them out. The recycled paper for me is a statement and a protest against the industrial waste I have experienced after coming to united states. I have had 6 different jobs in 6 different places and was always amazed by how much plastic and paper waste we create everyday. And that's just 6 different company, in a large scale when I think about everyone in the state, the country, I can't imagine the number! The job I am currently at, is comparatively better responsible for recycling their garbage and I have respect for this company.

Now, why this is a problem? because carbon emission. take only the plastic waste, for example .. let's say a cup needs to come to the store from the warehouse, but it's a cup so it might break so it comes in two bubble wrap, that's necessary... now a store carries 100 cups, which means 200 bubble wraps, there's 50 stores in the state .. and the math goes on. The solution is difficult sometimes, and I ask you to give opinions. We need to think about better solution because we all know plastic in each stage of it's lifestyle emits carbon. plastic is one of the biggest threat for the world now. plastic is responsible for global warming. we don't really have to get rid of all the plastics, I don't even know if at this point it's possible to get rid of all the plastics, we need plastics, from our toothbrushes to our daily transportations we are dependent on plastic! we can although try to get rid of one time plastics. Take your lunch box to the restaurant that provides one time plastic containers, ask them to fill your box instead. buy recyclable pop bottles instead of one time pop glasses, take small steps, fund the places, your friends, your local store who are trying to make organic solutions, in the mean time .. let's brainstorm and think of how we can find better solution for those companies who work hard to get out daily stuffs to us and have to depend on plastic. Plastic is cheap and promising, business always think of cheap reliable sources. We have to find cheap reliable solution to break the cycle.

I personally couldn't do anything about plastic, but I researched and learned how to recycle paper. I recycle industrial waste paper and use only electric energy when I blend them, rest of the process is done naturally. I tear them apart by hand and I do not pluck any flower or leaf from the trees, instead I pick up. I dry them on the sun, both my petals and paper. After 7-10 days they are ready and beautiful. Now back to business, from today I will be posting my halloween collection notebooks, I will make one item of each designs, so it will be first come first serve, You can still order if something has been sold but it might take time because of the paper-making process.
