I was stuck on 39th St killing some time this afternoon, and I ran across a book about Christy Mathewson, who for my money is the greatest pitcher ever (have a piece on this coming soon). It starts out discussing how America didn't really have any Athlete hero's at the turn of the 20th Century. This made me think of what was happening today in modern baseball. Literally today, Yordano Ventura is probably drinking too much coffee up in Omaha getting ready for his rehab start with the Storm Chasers. Hosmer is probably recovering from a wine hangover after hanging with Kacie too late in Oakland. Yet all I could think about was the villianization of Yordano. He has approached this year very cautiously being conscious of his long term career. He saved his first 100MPH pitch for Brett Lawrie's upper body. Volquez has taken him under his wing and taught him when to use the 100MPH pitches. He has become a better pitcher, and me and my wife have been rooting for him since he made his debut. So I will leave this post wishing Yordano and the Storm Chasers luck tonight in Omaha, the Royals the best in Oakland, and a joke. Brett Lawrie, the ISIS decapitation guy from London, and Dylann Roof are in a room and you have a gun with only 2 bullets....what do you do? Shoot Lawrie twice in the chest, pistol whip the ISIS guy to death, and drag Dylann Roof outside and American History X him on the curb. Go Royals and Let's Get Ready to Rumble!!!!!!!
