The moments in which Alexander could work from home were moments he cherished a lot. It permitted his children to walk into the office on occasion and seek his attention, which was sometimes a very welcome short distraction. His wife had his back with that and so many other things, though, ensuring the children would not disturb him when important business was to be done and given the fact that they had a few little mouths to feed, there was a lot of work to be done to have enough money in their pockets to do so and keep a good roof over their head. He did mention to Eliza that he wanted to buy or build her a house one day, with a garden and a barn. That in itself was not cheap. He would manage somehow. But he knew there was no way he would manage without the literal angel by his side.
She worked tirelessly, even more so than him in his opinion. She commanded the house, the children, she found time to help him with his work. She was everything and he was well aware that without her, he would hopelessly drown. There was no way he could pull any of this up without the angel who had his back. Even at this very moment where she was helping him with his work again. Alexander was very aware that he was running himself down once again by the sheer amount of nonstop work he was putting in, but he had his goal and he needed to meet it. And so he was grateful for Eliza's help, hell even her presence. She could ease his nerves just by being there in the room with him. “Just a few more. Shouldn’t take more than a few hours....” Yet sadly he knew it was already night, the children were already in bed.
