Copper lettering on the side entrance to the French gothic mansion at 2 East 79th Street and Fifth Avenue. Designed by Charles Pierrepont Henry Gilbert in 1897 for New York banker and stockbroker Isaac D. Fletcher. When he died 20 years later he left it to the Met, who then sold it to self-made oil millionaire Harry F. Sinclair and used the money to create the Fletcher Fund for purchases of prints and drawings. The building is still known as the Harry F. Sinclair House. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1978. Now home to the #UkrainianInstitute the building has been used in more than 40 movies and TV-series including ‘Cruel Intentions’ (1997). #manmadetype #vintagetype#lettergetter #handmadefont #customfont #typeface #typejunkie #typenerd #typefinder #nyctype #nyctypography #ligature #rsa_streetview #tv_typography #inthestreets #grafica #getitfromthestreet #streetgraphics #doorsofnewyork #letras #textography #differenType #typographyinthewild #typographylove #typodesign #typophile #typetopia #typeverything (at Ukrainian Institute of America)
