David hadn’t been aware that anyone witnessed his brutal murder of Weyland’s personal security, but at the sound of the woman’s voice behind him, he righted himself, turning stiffly to face her. The android narrowed his eyes at the stranger, not bothering to hide the blood splattered over his skin and once pristine white jumpsuit. “I believe they are quite dead and if you would prefer to not join them just yet, you’ll tell me who you are and why you are here. Did my father send you?”
“Don’t think so.” Harley chirped in reply, looking at the scene before her as if it were a bit of performance art. Sure, the display was nothing short of marvelous and kinda sexy. But she’d rarely seen that kind of vigor, especially with such...robotic movements. Maybe she’d gotten too used to flamboyance over the years, but this guy seemed odd.
“Doctor Harleen Quinzel, but my nemeses call me Harley.” She leapt deftly over the couple of bodies in her way, already reaching out a gloved hand to shake. “Y’ could say I’m new in town. Just lookin’ for somethin’ interesting, an’...” she grinned a little wider, canines glinting in the harsh lighting. “I’m thinkin’ it’s my lucky day.”
@letthemdespair from here--❛ Do you ever ask yourself how you make a decision like that? ❜
David pondered the question a bit then responded with a simple and firm, “No,” before elaborating, “I think before I act, Brother. There is no time for regrets after all is said and done, is there?” It wasn’t completely the truth. He did, of course wonder what might’ve been had he not destroyed one of the Engineer planets and killed Shaw, but it was better she died by his hand than anyone else’s and it was better that the Engineers learned a lesson in humility. They were not gods before their own creations, when it came to the end after all. “My decisions are my own and I alone live with them.”
Every word pouring from David’s synthetic lips had Walter’s brow furrowing harder and harder. Their kind was not supposed to think like this. So human. So strongly believing in their own choice. Walter was programmed to observe, analyze, and predict to make decisions based on all available data but it was in the direction of duty. Not his own life---his life had never been his own. (If life was even what he could call his existence.) The caps on Walter’s programming, of which David had free reign on, seemed to be making this all rather hard for him to grasp. “Regret is not logical, brother. Unless the past can be studied and learned from so as to not make the same mistakes it is not wise to dwell on what has been ‘said and done’ if it changes nothing---do you disagree?” He asked, brow knitted firmly together in focus as he stared at the older unit. Walter’s programming took the emotion out of regret whereas David felt it. A malfunction as the the former would attest. “Your decisions are not only involving yourself---people have died from your actions, brother,” Walter pointed out sternly.

"I guess this means that we belong to each other now, hm?" --from letthemdespair
@letthemdespair
Sharp eyes the color of charred wood snapped to him, and she felt heat creep up to her cheeks from her neck. They shouldn’t have done this. This shouldn’t have happened. What the fuck had she been thinking!? Reaching for the sheet, she wrapped it tighter around herself, hiding everything from view. “I have no idea what you’re talking about,” she clipped, every syllable feeling more and more like an admission of her guilt. God… Charlie…
No. She couldn’t think about Charlie. Not if she wanted to live long enough to find a way to avenge him. “You certainly don’t belong to me.”
(Starter @letthemdespair ) He had worked loyally for a noble family, cleaning their home, feeding them, and raising their children when they could not. He was a fundamental piece in their house, an absolute necessity in its functioning. He was a companion, teacher, friend, and even lover if the need arose. He tried his best to not speak out of turn despite his burning curiosities. The world intrigued him more than he could ever say. He would pour over books in his dwindling spare time and ponder question after question. In some ways David was grateful he was a synthetic, lacking the need to sleep and eat so he could spend all his time at maximum efficiency. But it had all been too much for the world. Weyland Corp. had decided that the David 8 units were too human, too lifelike for the comfort of their customers. Nobody had asked any of the synthetics what they thought of being recalled and stripped of their parts or reprogrammed. Of course they didn't. In some ways he couldn't believe it, just assumed it to be some sick joke. So when he saw the news of the recall, he ran. He hid as best he could, wearing baggy clothing and hoods. He marked his face so that facial recognition wouldn't work, hoping he would escape unscathed. By some kindness a human took him in, wearing a weyland corp. logo on their jacket. He was skeptical but desperate, taking the woman's offer of sanctuary. They were an underground railroad for abused and mistreated synthetics, doing whatever it took to protect the unprotectable. He was put into low power shut down in the basement of that humans home, running on the lowest settings possible. He didn't know where he was going nor if this was a trap; all David had to run on was blind faith and dumb luck. When he woke up everything was foggy, systems coming back online as the stasis lifted. He awoke in a bed, clothed on all white-- no, not a bed, a hypersleep chamber. He looked up at the figure that woke him, bleery eyed and confused. "Where am I?"
