How often do you collaborate with others in and out of your music? Do you ever get people to help with recording? Would you ever consider doing a split?

wowzers what a great question! on my first record i collaborated a lot, i think nearly every single song had a collaboration of some sort on it.

second choice had keys+vocals by kameron salek of desert bloom, some prod. by xavier paul from desert bloom, and a couple of people who edited the lyrics

toledo had drums by xavier paul

skeleton song is all me

little king was edited by a friend and the “what??” sample is my friend mia

6. death request was made by me but a friend left the voicemail

star cluster had a feature, the structure had some input by kameron, and kennedy of desert bloom played the guitar solo

eds song was entirely written and performed by a friend

more recently, lev! has co-produced a song on my EP (blond boy), and a collab with my friend Ewren (in the form of a star cluster re-mix) comes out 3/12.

outside of my music i’ve done some production work for an EP by a friend, i’ve done drums for a cash monkeys song, and i consult a lot of eli applegate’s more recent unreleased stuff.

i mainly record on my own but mixing with lev is fun

How did you come up with the name/character “Starry-Eyed Boy?”

so i guess it originally started with the fact that my best friend, lev (yknow the amaxites drum guy) draws everything with star eyes so i kind of just,,, took that

 the album went under a shit ton of names, such as the cringe-worthy “magnetic response imaging” and the close but still kind of far “starry-eyed kid”

as for the actual character itself, i’ve been drawing doodles of myself for like forever on the internet and so i just made the eyes stars and kachow! new sona

lorewise he’s just like me but he’s like the personified version of like whatever is wrong with me or whatever

it was actually called starry-eyed kid for a good while until i wrote ‘together’ and decided it was better to call it “starry-eyed boy”, the cover then evolved into this

then i kinda realized i was ripping off twin fantasy so i went in another direction

it’s edgy!

 i’m a teenager!
