okay! so! yuuji presented early— maybe the stress of having to look after himself while his grandfather is in and out of the hospital caused him to present early as like... a defense mechanism. so while (in this made up world) most teenagers usually present around 16-18, yuuji presented at 13 (yikes).

he's used to being harassed by adults (and older teenagers), but he can give as good as he gets so people in his vicinity quickly learn to leave him the hell alone

gojo, despite everything about him, doesnt really register as a threat to yuuji— it just seems funny or teasing when gojo flirts or stands too close or scents him (gojo would absolutely go for it if yuuji expressed that he was interested, but thats neither here nor there)

and megumi!!!! megumi also presents a bit early, but not nearly as early as yuuji

(i figure tsumiki presented pretty early as a result of their childhood, but she took the brunt of the responsibility around the house, so megumi was shielded from that somewhat)

(i also figure sorcerers tend to present earlier due to the stress of sorcery, so like 15-16ish)

so megumi is absolutely put off by gojo constantly hanging around yuuji, but hes not really sure why it bothers him so much (he knows he has a crush on yuuji, but this feels like more than just regular jealousy)

and then he presents as an omega and suddenly it makes sense— even before he had fully presented, he'd already internally recognized yuuji as a potential mate. and he doesnt know what to do about that! yuuji has complained to megumi about people/omegas giving him trouble so megumi doesnt want to be another person harrassing him 😭

MEANWHILE!!! it turns out yuuji actually imprinted on megumi during their first meeting! it was a high-stakes life-or-death situation and his instincts recognized megumi as someone important that he needed to protect 🥺

and afterwards, he feels bad because megumi is unpresented, and doesnt deserve yuuji being so attached to him when he cant even sense the bond, let alone reciprocate it! and gojo thinks its cute, and a little funny, and his teasing of yuuji is both mildly genuine but also encouragement for megumi to present already and recognise yuuji back (megumis crush is obvious to everyone but yuuji lmao)

and so megumi presents and gojo is like "okay brilliant. now you two can get together and this weird guilty energy you both have going on can end. good luck! dont get pregnant!!"

okay, contrast between "rose → beauty" and "stale → aged" brings me to a beauty that has aged past their "best years"

goyuu or gofushi for this one, probably a canon-au where gojo lives and/or everything post-shibuya doesnt happen

lets just call it gofushi, for fun

gojo who turns down 16 y/o megumi when he confesses after everything happens— megumi doesnt want to die with regrets, and because it was touch-and-go for a bit there he felt inspired to be honest

and like, gojo knew, he just never said anything

but he wants megumi to have a normal life as a teenager, and feels like he's too old for him

anyway, years pass, they see each other less and less. megumi is embarrassed but refuses to show it so he acts painful Normal and gojo is actively avoiding him. maybe megumi and yuuji date for a while? or megumi and nobara?

megumi is in his thirties now, and gojo is rapidly approaching fifty (which really isnt old tbh). they end up working together on the same mission— or maybe megumi gets asked to stand in for one of the teachers at the school for one reason or another— and theyre forced into proximity again

gojo feels like hes past his prime (in terms of relationships, if he was ever in a place to have one) and while he doesnt regret telling megumi to go live his life, he does think about him and wish there could have been something there.

lucky for him, megumi has held a flame for him this entire time (this is what ruined his previous relationship(s) ??) and their interactions reignite that interest— not that he'd ever say something about it again.

no, its up to gojo to realise and do the vulnerable task of admitting feelings♡

the dark at the bottom

itafushi in which megumi mistakes yuuji for sukuna during sex & freaks out. yuuji assumes its trauma and feels bad for triggering megumi, but megumi's reaction was because he was more aroused by the idea of it being sukuna and that horrified him

could culminate with yuuji admitting he misses sukuna too and it being a fight because they both hate the guy and what he did to both of them/their friends/the world but also like. sharing the guilt of missing him

also could culminate in yuuji admitting that hes secretly been housing part of sukuna'a soul this whole time and they revive him again and he becomes their (secret) third lmao

galaxy tears

okay fr tho uhhhhhh. goyuu.

role reversal where gojo is a cursed spirit sealed away or whatever. except its twenty "tears" that have to be collected to bring him back, and with each one yuuji consumes, he sees a flashback of a moment from gojo's human life before he became a curse. gojo does not know yuuji has seen these memories? yuuji doesnt say anything at first because theyre from gojo's pov so he doesnt know what they are until consuming like ten or so tears and catches a glimpse of "himself" in a reflection

some sort of confrontation where gojo refuses to be pitied and yuuji says he doesnt pity him, just that he likes that he understands him better

basic rundown of yuuta, child of divorce is that yuuta is picked up by geto very shortly after he turns rika into a curse & subsequently raised in his cult. he eventually takes issue with geto's plans to wipe out humanity and goes to gojo to ask for help trying to dissuade him. this leads to him joining the tokyo school around the same time as he does in canon, and a lot of duplicity regarding his upbringing. things end a little differently than jjk0 canon, but the timeline is largely the same :)

i havent actually touched this wip in a hot minute, but i was sort of hoping including it would make me feel inspired to look at it again. now im kind of feeling like doing an entire overhaul of what i have written and starting basically from scratch 💀

anywayyyyy, heres a "little" bit from the latter half of the fic, where i make my poly shipping agenda known :D

It’s barely dawn and Yuuta is struggling to eat a bowl of cereal in between yawns. The very first fingers of dawn have started to claw their way past the horizon and peek through the gauzy curtains in the kitchen of the dorms. The muted light illuminates the room enough to see, but is gentle enough that it isn’t hard on tired eyes.

Yuuta has been out all night with Gojo-sensei on a mission he’d been roped into at the last minute, getting back to campus only an hour or so ago. He hasn’t even made it to bed yet; if he hadn’t already promised Maki yesterday that he’d join her for her morning jog today, he’d be asleep.

It’s fine, he can nap later.

Inumaki is sitting next to him, falling asleep on his toast. Why he’s up is a mystery to Yuuta; he was snoring on the dinner table when Yuuta got in, and his one-handed signs had been incoherent when asked why he wasn’t in bed. The garbled onigiri explanation had been likewise incomprehensible.

So Yuuta made him toast and poured a bowl of cereal— some sugary nonsense Gojo-sensei keeps at the dorms for when he wants to grab a snack while he’s here— and here they sit, an indeterminate stretch of minutes later. Yuuta's cereal is a soggy, sugary mess at this point, but he’s too lazy to dump it and get something else.

He’s similarly too tired to react when the door slams open, merely staring sedately while Maki breezes in. Inumaki isn’t so lucky, jerking upright when Maki slams her hands down on the table.

“Inumaki and I talked,” Maki says, apropos of nothing, “And we decided that it's fine if you date both of us.”

Yuuta blinks at her, his spoon hovering halfway between his bowl and his mouth. A brightly-coloured cereal piece falls off the spoon and splats back into the bowl. 

He glances to the side, catching Inumaki’s eye for a moment. The other boy’s face pinkens and he gives Yuuta a nervous thumbs up that clarifies nothing.

“... What?”
