2018 Leverage Bang

Hello, all! As you can see, we are back for the 2018 Leverage Bang. This time, it’s going to be a little different:

Instead of a regular Bang or a Reverse Bang, we will be doing both! The Bang will work in two phases:

- Phase 1 (Submissions): Artists and authors will create a new, original work that will be submitted for claims. These can be either an art piece or a fic!

- Phase 2 (Claims): The works from Phase 1 will be claimed by authors and artists who will work collaboratively with the original artist/author to create a second work inspired by the first. In this phase, artists will choose a fic, while authors will choose an art piece.

There will be collaborative ‘teams’ of 1 artist + 1 author.

How do I sign up?

Phase 1 signups: Link will be made available when signups open

Phase 2 signups: Link will be made available when signups open

Dates and Deadlines:

May 13 - Signups open.

June 10-16 - First check-in

August 22 - Drafts/summaries due

July 25-27 - Claim previews

July 28 - Claims open

September 2-8 - Second check-in

October 5-6 - Final drafts due

October 7-21 - Posting

Basic Rules:

Works cannot be posted before the official post date. This means both that they must be new (previously unpublished) works and that they cannot be released early.

Any (or no) pairing is acceptable so long as the main focus of the story revolves around canon Leverage characters.

Any rating is acceptable.

All appropriate warnings and tags must be used for both the summary/draft submission and the final post.

I want to write more than one bang? I want to participate as both a writer and an artist? I want to both submit a work for claims and claim a work?

It is up to you to decide how much you can handle. We only ask that you seriously consider what you are committing to and try not to overload yourself. If you are signing up for both Phase 1 and Phase 2 you will have to submit both forms.

Oops, I did accidentally overload myself, what now?

We understand that things don’t always go according to plan. If something comes up please contact the mosts ASAP and we will do everything we can to assist you. We understand that life happens and we want this to be a fun, successful event for everyone.

Where do I post?

Works can be posted on AO3, tumblr, dreamwidth, or wherever else you like to post. A masterlist of all of the works will be compiled on the bang tumblr. Works posted to AO3 will be gathered there in an AO3 collection, but the AO3 collection will be linked back to the tumblr so that any fics not posted to AO3 can still be found.

Accommodations:

If you require any accommodations, including but not limited to: d/Deaf/HoH and need only visual art, blind and need only audio art, cannot view flashing gifs, or any major triggers not covered by basic archive warnings please contact the mods.

Sequels, Crossovers, and AUs?

Are all welcome, however:

Sequels must be able to stand on their own.

Crossovers and AUs must keep the main focus on the Leverage crew.

Keep in mind that some crossovers and AUs may limit the people interested in your work when it comes time for claims.

Check-ins:

Check-ins are mandatory and will be done via email. The mods will send out an email reminder and will follow up within 48 hours if the check-in has not been received. The purpose of check-ins is to ensure that all writers and artists are on track. You do not need to actually show us anything, just give us a little update on how you’re doing, if you have any questions or concerns, or anything else you may want/need to share with the mods, do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Claims:

Titles, summaries, descriptions, and warnings will be posted through google drive and opened for viewing to artists and authors. Once claims open, you will need to submit a google form to the mods indicating your top 5 picks for which fic/art you would like to work with. Claims operate first come first serve. The mods will respond confirming which fic/art you have been paired with. If by chance none of your five picks is still available, the mods will ask you to find another selection from the works still available. Once claims have closed, you will be put in contact with the creator of the fic/art that you’ve claimed and the collaboration will begin!

(Remember: Artists claim fics, authors claim art.)

Betas and Pitch hitters:

If you are interested in offering your services as either a beta or a pitch hitter, bless you! Just let the mods know.

Update!

Hello all!

The first round of check ins are nearly complete. If you have not yet checked in for each of your sign ups, please check your emails and be sure to do so promptly. 

If you are missing a check in I have just sent an email reminder. (If you got that email and aren’t sure what sign up you didn’t check in for, you can always message us via tumblr messenger, tumble ask, discord, or responding to the check in email and we will be happy to check for you).

The next step: For Phase 1 participants, drafts are due on July 22nd. We expect you to have your work roughly 50% complete for draft submissions (minimum of 3k written for authors). So you still have lots of time, but keep that deadline in mind in get to work!

Lastly, Artist Sign Ups - Phase 2 are all still open! If you are an artist and want to participate, or if you have any artist friends that you can talk into participating ;) do it! It’ll be fun, we promise!

Requirements:

- For writers: Minibang: Minimum 5k words Bigbang: Minimum 10k words No maximum. Writers will indicate which type of bang they intend to do when signing up, but can change their minds any time before artist claims open; to do so email the mods.

- For artists: Minibang: Minimum 1 artwork Bigbang: Minimum 2 artworks No maximum. Artists can submit illustrations, comics, photomanips, fan videos, fanmixes, gifs, graphics, or any other art medium that can be digitally shared. Videos must be a minimum of 1 minute 30 seconds long, fanmixes minimum of ten tracks, minimum of six gifs. For any other questions involving types of art or art requirements contact the mods either by email or tumblr ask.
