Just look at these fools grinning at each other.
Which is Eliot's best outfit in The Homecoming Job (S01E02)?
1 - Blue/green hoodie, black leather jacket, fingerless gloves
2 - Blue/grey button-up & dark jeans
3 - Waiter - White button-up, black bow-tie & black apron
4 - Doctor - White lab coat over white button-up
5 - White button-up
6 - Navy button-up & dark jeans
7 - Security guard - blue button-up with badge & hat
8 - Blue/grey button-up over white vest, dark pants
The Homecoming Job (S01E02)
- I think knowing I'm doing my silly little commentary makes me give the time of day to scenes I otherwise wouldn't give a fair shot. I tune out a bit when it's only Nate and/or Sophie because I find them irritating (and Sophie a bit one dimensional but that's its own post), but the opening scene with the soap commercial casting is cute. "Peggy killed her first husband!"
- The Eliot phone ringing scene is one of my favorite of the whole series. It re-establishes post-pilot who Eliot is in literally 30 seconds while staying light and funny. "Nothin', why?"
- I think there's a pattern of Eliot being the one trying to enforce (superficial) normality on the others, complaining Hardison is being weird or there's something wrong with Parker. I think he's actually quite invested in being normal and to a degree enforcing order.
- The "fancy" office screens are kinda underwhelming from a 2023 perspective aren't they?
- Honorable mention for weirdly specific Eliot thirst (rejected for being too obvious, at least I hope so, otherwise that makes me seem weird): The crisp smack that accompanies "has more of a crack".
- Eliot planning ahead to make him say "fuck". I feel like this is our first real indication that Eliot isn't just there to bust heads and look pretty. Also the face Parker makes as she says "really loud too" cracks me up every time.
- I wish they'd done more "distinctive" lines through the series. We get two in this episode but only another handful through the next 75.
- The looking a woman in the eye thing is so clearly untrue, I hate that they put it in Sophie's mouth. Also hate that they had the boys agree with it, when they've generally written them as drinking their respect women juice. Having said that, Hardison yelling "sexiness" when Parker successfully completes a work task doesn't scream "respects women", so maybe this episode they were out of juice. The misogyny of the showrunners (and some actors and crew) is imo well enough documented, so not surprised it bleeds through.
- I don't believe for a second Eliot could break that webcam by throwing a stone at what appears to be the back of the camera from that distance, but I will choose to overlook it because I'm extremely weak to pretty people throwing and catching. And what an example of the genre 😍 Honorable mention for official thirst moment but again, for the amount it's been giffed by others, I'm guessing it's too obvious.
- Now we come to the official weird Eliot thirst. It's the look on his face as he says "is his house finished?" and "can I borrow your phone?" The mischief, the smugness, the camaraderie, the swagger.
- Something's wrong with the webcam so you leave your post guarding the same thing the webcam is guarding? C'mon goons! Goon better!
- Given the rest of the plot, it kinda seems like there was a high danger of Hardison getting shot driving that truck away.
- Hodge's improv about his "ethniticity" is one of my favorite lines of the series.
- This is one of my contenders for favorite episode of the series. I don't think it'll take the title but it has a lot of very giffable moments, I enjoy the early series character dynamics, and it just does what Leverage does well.

“People don’t just show up to help. That’s not the way the world works.” -- sums up the show.
