Levi would prefer Korean skincare products to western bc the latter tend to contain active ingredients and tackle specific issues whereas Korean products tend to be gentler and focus on hydration. Levi’s skin is already flawless so k-skincare suits him best, keeping his skin glassy and bouncy af.

And let’s face it, skincare is considered “feminine” in the west ergo most products are marketed to women while men’s skincare products are shit. But in South Korea, men wash their faces and moisturize using unisex products without shame 😤 similarly Levi doesn’t have any masculine hangups regarding his hygiene, he’d rather choose quality and what suits him than some sub-par product with the men’s label plastered on.

is it just me or is the aot fandom really really homophobic sometimes? every time someone headcanons levi as not straight, some other blog will shout from the rooftops like “these are all the reasons levi is actually straight”

It’s definitely not just you, although really lots of people are homophobic in general, not just in fandom. Fandoms can be racist, misogynistic, queerphobic, classist and ableist because it’s made up of people, and lots of people are bigoted or have unchecked prejudices.

The context I’m inferring from your ask is that this may have something to do with how the common culprits of this homophobic behavior might be self-shippers, and you may be asking me this bc of the nature of my blog.

Regarding Levi… I have found myself on both sides of the fence. Being nonbinary and an aspec bisexual, I love to delve into queer character readings and break gender stereotypes with my interpretations, stories and art. I have also, for as long as I’ve participated in fandom, always been incredibly fond of x reader fanfiction, which is predominantly written by cishet women. These ladies have tons of ideas that I don’t agree with and that don’t appeal to me, as many of them are traditionally feminine and yearn for traditionally masculine men whereas I’m a Femdom who likes my men submissive with fluid masculinity. But I don’t judge them too harshly for what gets their rocks off, I’m a firm advocate of female pleasure, I’m sex-positive and I don’t kinkshame.

On the queer side, I staunchly agree that we shouldn’t automatically assume a character is cishet simply because it wasn’t explicitly stated by the creator or in the text. And because that’s boring.

However, shipping wars are still very much alive and well. Many fans with queer interpretations of characters and who ship primarily mlm often mock and harass self-shippers & canon char x oc shippers. This is what I believe tends to be the cause for self-shippers to double down on their beloved f/o’s purported straightness. I’m not saying any homophobia is justified, it’s just that I can see the rationale for passionately asserting that your blorbo can in fact be attracted to you. It sounds silly, but this is fandom—we’re talking about real people fighting over made-up people.

We can interpret and analyze and headcanon all we like, but that doesn’t make it canon. Doesn’t matter how much “proof” you think you have, sexual orientation and gender identity is not as simple as “hey that guy is wearing tights, he’s gay!” or “he’s had a crush on a girl, he’s straight!” So harassing people and disagreeing with some take by spouting reactionary talking points is ugly and nonsensical (and ofc being reactionary is just awful and automatically renders your point invalid). Fighting over different opinions is pointless because there’s no way for you to be right or wrong if it’s not canon!

Having said that, here’s why I think Levi is a versatile switch demi-bisexual who is fine with pushing gender boundaries:

It could be in his Ackerman genes. Regardless of the validity of the ackerbond theory, Levi, Kenny, and Mikasa alike all show loyalty and servile behavior towards the person who they hold most dear (their “liege”). If, for the sake of argument, an Ackerman bonds with someone, devoted their entire being to this special someone, who’s to say that gender plays any part in it? If Levi bonds with his liege and falls in love with them in the way Mikasa had with Eren, I can see him servicing his liege in any way their heart desires. Frankly, I believe he is built to serve, he wants whatever they want, their pleasure is his pleasure, their happiness is his happiness, etc etc

He may be more fluidly masculine because he has what can be regarded as ~dainty~ tastes. Sipping tea from fancy china, being clean and tidy, getting manicures and wearing skin care masks… Honestly, assigning gender to interests and behaviors is pretty ridiculous, nevertheless these things can be read as feminine bc sOcIeTy says so.

I’m demi-bi, so I prefer my f/o to also be demi-bi because I’m obsessed with Devotion and the concept of loving someone for who they are regardless of their gender and loving nobody else but them and making them the center of your whole universe just tickles my brain just right 😤👌

Maybe he’s transmasc. Because of the “two fingers is all I need” line. Plus he’s short and his waist is so snatched? Idk you can hc any character as trans for any reason. But transmasc!Levi is so underrated imo

He’s bisexual because he fights with dual swords. And look at the way he sits. He’s so sassy. He has that sadness in his eyes that you only see in eastern european gay porn.

He likes bondage (receiving). Because he’s always wearing leather harnesses.
