bkdk inspired by the mha fortnite collab, the wonder duo gets a collaboration with a popular battle royale game to celebrate their success as a hero. Izuku has some fun with the emotes.
Some may think that working as a pro-hero is glamorous. They say heroes have everything they could ever want; fame, money, a dedicated fanbase, a powerful quirk, a strong legacy. While some of these things may be true, pro-heroes also sacrifice a lot. Obviously, they put their lives on the line, that’s just part of the job. But outside of that, they have to do paperwork, patrols, interviews for publicity, and any free time they may have is spent on call, waiting for a disaster to strike. So when a hero does have a moment to truly relax, they cherish it as much as they can.
This is a well-known fact amongst all pro-heroes, but no one understands it quite as well as The Wonder Duo. Four years ago, Dynamight and Deku graduated from UA and registered as a duo, rising through the ranks unbelievably quickly. Their hard work and persistence to be nothing less than the best earned them the rank of “Number 1 Hero”, a spot they’ve been sitting comfortably in for a little over a year.
As a celebration of the Wonder Duo’s success and longevity, a popular battle royale game created a new campaign with character items and skins for players to purchase, allowing them to play as Deku and Dynamight. Pro-Hero Deku, also known as Izuku Midoriya, is a hero fanatic, head full of facts about statistics, battles, and an All Might collection that was growing exponentially and honestly could be considered a problem. So, naturally, he had already logged an ungodly amount of hours in this game, easily becoming one of the best players in the nation.
Pro-Hero Dynamight, also known as Katsuki Bakugo, really could not care less about a “shitty-ass video game for extras who can’t be actual heroes.” Katsuki was also a hero nerd, just not as… intense as Izuku was. He keeps his database of hero knowledge to himself and prefers to have a few small, meaningful pieces of merchandise. And while Katsuki was mildly interested in this collaboration, he really didn’t care much about playing.
So, when the collaboration launched, Katsuki was draped in a blanket, lying on the couch with a book in his lap, feet tucked beneath Izuku’s thighs. The greenette was practically vibrating with excitement, his eyes glued to the TV screen, controller in hand, listing off facts about the collaboration as he waited for the new update to finish downloading.
“-and they even included a pickaxe that looks like your gauntlets! Kacchan isn’t that so cool?!” Izuku rambled passionately.
Katsuki, used to the nerd’s enthusiastic ranting, didn’t even look up from his book, replying offhandedly.
“Yes, Zuku, that’s very coo-“
“OHMYGOD KACCHAN SHHH SHUT UP STOP TALKING ITS FINALLY DONE!” Izuku screeched, smacking his fiancé’s legs frantically.
“Oi? Nerd what the fu-“ the blonde yelled defensively, flinching away from the hands attacking him.
“Kacchan shush!!” Izuku whined, turning his full attention to the screen.
Katsuki huffed, rolling his eyes and returning his focus to the book he had been trying, and failing, to read.
The blond heard Izuku’s excited and surprised noises as he navigated the menu, looking at the features of the collaboration. He somehow managed to tune out most of the noises coming from the TV for about ten minutes and was finally able to immerse himself in the story.
Right as the main character was about to be reunited with their love interest after pages and pages of unbearable yearning, Katsuki’s peace was interrupted by the sound of Izuku snorting. He looked up, with an exasperated sigh, curious as to what had his fiancé laughing so hard.
“HAH?! Oi nerd what the fuck is this?!” Katsuki exclaimed, in horror, eyes widening and face turning bright red as he looked at the monstrosity on the screen.
Izuku was in full tomato mode, face flushed completely red from laughing. In his mirth, he had dropped the controller to the floor which caused the animation to play on repeat. The freckled man found himself laughing harder with each loop as he clutched his stomach.
On the screen was an animated version of Dynamight in full hero costume, blowing kisses and dancing to a peppy, upbeat song that he didn’t know. He looked on, captivated by the shock of seeing himself shaking his hips and moving his arms while rainbows exploded from his hands.
The explosive hero stared at the screen in shock as Izuku finally caught his breath, sitting up and smiling at his fiancé with tears of joy streaming down his face. Katsuki felt all his anger dissipate as he gazed at his childhood friend, the person who’s seen him at his absolute worst, the man who owns his heart.
Izuku’s cheeks were flushed, his freckles peeking through his skin’s rosy glow. His eyes were bright and shining, partly with tears but also with pure joy. His plump lips were upturned, sparkling white teeth flashing a radiant smile at the blonde.
After catching his breath and composing himself, Izuku grabbed the controller, navigating to a different emote, one that caused the virtual Dynamight to drop to the ground dramatically.
“Kacchan, look, isn’t this amazing!” the greenette exclaimed, voice breathy from laughing so hard.
“Yeah, Zuku, it really is.” Katsuki replied softly, his gaze nowhere near the screen, instead fixated lovingly on Izuku.
