Not to be that lusting whore 😌💁🏼♀️ but someone should write a Bob Floyd x reader fic where reader goes down on him and title it with a funny pun like "bobbing for apples"

When they got to the apartment, Bob took a shower to get cleaned up. Melinda quickly went under the bed and grabbed out the dress she had stored away. She had bought it sometime after the first time they had almost became intimate. She was hoping Bob would get the courage to ask her out one day. And that day finally came. Melinda took her dress and everything she needed, and headed to Tangerine’s. During the ride over, she had asked him if she could use his place to get ready. He had agreed since he said he was going to head to the bar with the girl he’s been talking to from the rodeo.
Melinda went inside and into the bedroom, unlike the rest of the apartment that Tangerine kept the same as Mr Rogers left it. When it came to his bedroom he added his own touch to it. He had mounted a shelf that he had little Noah’s urn and his mother’s. He also had put up photos of his mother that they made copies from her scrapbook. Tangerine even had a photo of little Noah hanging up that his Aunties found for him. Of course pictures of him and Lemon on all their travels. He put up group photos they took while making the nursery that included Bob in them.
“I’m surprised you don’t have our photos up.” Melinda said, then she looked at the bed, seeing one of the pillows was slightly higher than the other. “Because you have them hidden.” She lifted up the pillow and showed a photo album book. She looked through it, seeing he had the photos that The Chameleon took and some he printed out himself. “I guess you didn’t want that girl over here because she would have seen these.” She sighed. “I knew it was going to be hard for you to let me go after everything that happened. But you do have pictures of Bob up, you could have edited him out. And you're trying to move on by going out with that girl tonight, even if it’s just for fun. You're trying and that’s what matters.”
She put the album back and she put the pillow over it, then she headed to the bathroom. Melinda started getting ready and as she did, she started to get nervous about it. It’s not like she hasn’t gone out with Bob before to get some food. They normally went out two a week and they did it alone. But now that it was an actual date, she couldn’t help but freak out a little. And she knew Bob was definitely freaking out right now. Which he was, because soon as Bob got out of the shower, he kept changing out of shirts. Then when he finally settled on a shirt, he couldn’t figure out whether to wear a hat or not. Then when he decided on wearing a hat, could figure out which one.
He sighed. “Man, I really should have decided this before asking her out.” Bob said, as he looked at himself in the room. “Screw it. She says she likes me in this shirt and hat the most, so we’re good.” He nodded his head. “We’re good. Now where is that sling she said she had in the closet.” He went through the closet and found it, and he put it on. “I hate I’ll be wearing this on our date, but better than wearing a cast and being laid up in the hospital. I really need to thank Tangerine again.” His phone went off and he picked it up. “Say the devil’s name and he will appear.” He answered it. “Yeah man?”
“Hey bruv have you left yet?”
“Nah,” Bob said, shaking his head. “I was about to head over to your place to get her.”
“Did you get her flowers?”
“Fuck, I didn’t.” Bob said.
He chuckled. “I figure as much. It’s a good thing that when I picked up some flowers for my date, I went to the apartments and put some flowers in your truck. By the way, you know how easy it is to break into your truck?”
“Dude, are you serious?” Bob said. “Thanks man, appreciate you looking out.”
“Think nothing of it Robert.”
“Tangerine, I uh.” Bob said. “I don’t want to sound like a dick or I’m being ungrateful. But why are you helping me out with all this? With..”
“Your date with my ex-girlfriend?”
“Yeah,” Bob said, nodding. “I know this can’t be easy for you.”
“It’s not. But I fucked things up with love, royally fucked this up. I break her heart so many times and in so many ways. But yet, she still manages to forgive me and be there for me. I know I don’t deserve her forgiveness or her. But you know how love is mate, she’s a kind and sweetheart woman. She’ll be there for you no matter what, because she has a good heart.”
“Don’t I know it.” Bob said, smiling.
“I just want her to be happy, Robert. More than anything, I want her to be happy. She deserves that and more after everything she’s been through with me and with the other men she’s dated. After everything that happened to her throughout her life, love deserves the world and then some. So even though that means she’ll be happy with someone else, I’m going to give her just that. Just don’t muck things up like I did mate.”
“I won’t.” Bob said. “I promise.”
“And a word of advice, bruv about your date tonight. Now I know you two are living together. And I’m sure you guys have done a little something something now that you two had some alone time again. But since this is an official date, treated like you would if you two didn’t live together or been doing stuff together. So drop her off and walk her to the apartment. Ask her out for a second date and whens he says yes, kiss her goodnight. Then go spend the night at your uncle’s. That way she sees that the date means more to you than the other times you guys went out and had dinners together. Do the same thing for the second date and then after the third date, I guarantee she’s going to invite you in. When that happens, then you make your move. So don’t rush things, take it slow and give her the reins. Alright bruv?”
“Yeah man.” Bob said, nodding his head. “You're right, I should take things slow with her now that it’s an official date. Thanks for the advice Tangerine, I really appreciate it. I also appreciate everything done for me and Melinda. You’re really showing all of us you can change.”
“Thanks mate. Now go take that girl out on your date and text me if you need any more advice. Night.”
“Night.” Bob said and he hung up the phone. “Alright.” He took a deep breath and let it out. “Time to go pick her up.” He put his cowboy hat on and headed over to Tangerine’s. He knocked on the door and when it opened, his jaw nearly dropped to the floor and his eyes got all wide. “Whoa.”
A crooked smile formed on his face as he took all of her in. Her hair was in waves and she had the front flipped over to the side. She had smokey eyeshadow, with black eyeliner and burgundy matte lipstick. Her dress with a fifty style off the shoulder cocktail dress. It was all black with black from the waist up. She had black diamond crest moon necklace with matching earrings and bracelet. Then she had her black lace wedges on.
“You look so,” Bob said, he started smiling from ear to ear. “So beautiful right now baby. You always do but uh.. Right now you… you look like.. I don’t know. I can’t even think of the words.”
“Thank you Bob.” Melinda said, blushing as she looked down. “I hope it’s not too much.”
“It’s perfect. Just like you.” Bob said. She looked back up with a smile. “So are you ready for our actual date?” He smiled as she nodded her head. “Alright let’s go.” She locked up and he offered his arm to her, she took it and they headed out. When they got to his truck, he opened her door and he found the bouquet of flowers Tangerine left on the seat. “These are for you baby.” Her face lit up as he handed her the flowers.
“Oh babe they're beautiful.” Melinda said, taking the flowers and smelling them. “When did you have time to get these? I’m sure I wasn’t taking that long to get ready.”
“A friend got them for me while we got ready.” Bob said, smiling as he stepped aside. “After you my lady,” she giggled and he helped her into the truck. He closed it behind her and he got in, then they started heading to the restaurant. Once they got there, he helped her out of the truck and they went inside. “Wow. This place is really fancy.”
“It really is.” Melinda said. They were seated and they ordered their drinks, and started looking over at the menu. She glanced up from time to time, seeing Bob was chewing his lip alot. When the waitress came back with Bob’s water and Melinda’s tea, they placed the order. “Thank you.” The waitress walked off and she saw Bob was fidgeting with his hands and avoiding eye contact with her. “Nervous?”
“Nah,” Bob said, shaking his head.
“I’m nervous.” Melinda said.
“Oh thank god.” Bob said, he sighed in relief as he looked up. “I really didn’t want to be the only one.”
“I started getting nervous when I was getting ready.” Melinda said “How about you? When did you start getting nervous?”
He smiled. “Since the first day I meant you.” Bob said, she giggled as she blushed. “I started to get nervous the moment I asked you out. Once I said it, I was like, oh shit I really said it. And then I was nervous you were going to say no. Then you said yes and I got more nervous. When we started getting ready I got even more nervous than I was, because I had no idea what to wear. And now that we are here, I’m beyond nervous, I mean beyond, beyond that I’m going to screw this date up so that I can’t stop talking. So I really need you to say something so I can stop talking. Please say something baby so I can stop talking.”
“Babe,” Melinda said, putting her hand on his. “Breath.” He took a deep breath and let it out. “I know you're very nervous, your eyes are like saucers right now because of it. I also know, this is the very date you've been on. Which means this is all completely new to you and you don’t know what to do.” He sighed and nodded his head. “And, it’s okay to be nervous and not know what to do on the first date. No one really does when they have their first date. You know what happened on my first actual date with Tangerine?”
“No,” Bob said, shaking his head.
“Now though we had gone on several dates, they were all during my lunch break when I worked at the ER. So it always felt like a casual thing for us, kinda like with me and you when we started eating together.” Melinda said and he nodded his head. “Now when we actually went on a date it was in Hawaii. Not only was I beyond nervous, so was Tangerine. We were so nervous, we got drunk. You know what, drunk is an understatement, we were completely shitfaced. I mean, it was so bad we got lost on our way back to our hotel room and we were dining on the property.”
He chuckled. What?” Bob said, smiling. “Are you serious baby?”
“Dead serious.” Melinda said, smiling. “We were lost for a few hours and ended up in one of the giftshops.” He chuckled. “We had to ask them which way to go so we could get to our room.”
“Oh god.” Bob said, smiling as he shook his head. “Yeah, that's definitely beyond nervous.”
“And if I’m being honest here babe,” Melinda said. “I’m really nervous that I want to walk over to the bar and chug one of those vodka bottles down to calm my nerves.”
“Man, I feel that.” Bob said, grabbing his water. “I really wish this was alcohol right now to calm me down.” He chugged the drink down and he put the glass down as his eyes widened. “I really shouldn’t have wished that.”
“What?” Melinda said, raising an eyebrow. “Why?”
“That’s not water.” Bob said, coughing a bit as he shook his head. “It’s gin.”
“What?” Melinda said. “Are you sure?”
“Yeah, I’m sure.” Bob said, nodding his head and she grabbed the glass. She smelled it and the familiar scent of gin hit her nose. “You smell it don’t you?’
“Yeah I do.” Melinda said. She drank what drops were left and she could taste it. “Shit, it is gin.” She put the glass down and looked around, panicking a bit. “You know what,” she looked back at him. “Let's just go and head over to Royal’s. I’ll call Anthony and,”
“Baby,” Bob said, moving his hand around and taking a hold of her hand. “I’m fine. One drink isn’t going to make me fall off the wagon.” She was about to say something when he shook his head. “I'm a serious baby, I’m fine. A long time ago when Walker was being a major drink he switched my water for vodka. It was a taller glass than this one and I chugged the whole thing. All it did was mellow me out, like how that gin is doing to me right now. After it happened, Royal chewed Walker out and they kept an eye on me for about a week, nothing happened. I didn’t get any cravings for another drink or wanted to get high. I was completely fine. So trust me baby,” he squeezed her hand gently. “I’m fine. I promise.”
She let out a heavy sigh and nodded her head. “Okay.” Melinda said. “But the moment you want a drink or anything, please tell me.”
“Baby,” Bob said, leaning closer to her. “The moment that happens not only will I tell you, I’ll check into rehab. I promise.”
She smiled. “Thank you.” Melinda said.
“Your welcome baby.” Bob said, smiling. He looked over and saw people going to the dance floor for a slow dance. “You know what,” he looked back at her. “Since she said it will be a while for our food to come out, you wanna dance with me?”
She blushed. “I’ll love to.” Melinda said.
He smiled, “Come on.” Bob said. He got up as he pulled her up with him. He led them over to the dance floor. “Fair warning, I’m a terrible dancer.”
“You’ll be fine.” Melinda said, putting her arms around his neck as he put his good arm around her waist. “I’ll take the lead.”
“Fine by me baby. I love it when you take the lead” Bob said. He winked at her, making her giggle as they slowly started swaying to the music. “I’m sorry I can’t hold you properly with my shoulder.”
“It’s okay babe.” Melinda said. “I’m just so grateful you're not seriously injured. When you went down the way you did, my heart just went into my throat. You had me so worried, cowboy.”
“My apologies ma’am.” Bob said, titling his hat to her. “At least now I have a good bedtime story to tell our kids.” He smiled.
“Yeah you do.” Melinda said, smiling as she nodded her head. “I’m so proud of you. You did amazing out there.”
“Thank you baby,” Bob said. “But I couldn’t have done it without you.” He leaned down and kissed her gently. “I was thinking when we have a boy, we should name him Dean. What do you think, baby?” She nodded her head. “And for our second boy, obviously he needs to be called Sam.”
She smiled. “Obviously.” Melinda said, nodding her head. “And if we have a girl before another boy, we can name her Samantha but call her Sam for short. If we have another boy after that, we can pick either Cas or Jack.”
“Or both.” Bob said, he smiled “Could end up with two boys after.”
“You want four kids?” Melinda said.
“Five,” Bob said.
“Five?” Melinda said she had a shock look on her face. “Why five?”
“Well we got to have Charlie in there.” Bob said and she giggled. “And that works for a boy or girl.”
“You don’t want an even six?” Melinda said. “We need a Robert Singer.”
“Oh god no,” Bob said, shaking his head. “I love the character but I don’t want any of our boys with my name. I always hated my name.”
The song ended and he led her back to the table as the waitress was coming over. They sat down as she sat their food on the table. When she grabbed Bob’s empty glass, he gave Melinda a look of, should I say something or not. Melinda politely informed the waitress of the mix up and if she could make sure it was water. The waitress apologized and informed them, she’ll personally get the water. When she brought it back and took it back off, Melinda tasted for him just in case.
“You're good.” Melinda said, putting the glass back down.
“Thanks baby,” Bob said. He cut into his steak and took a bite. “It actually tastes amazing.”
She cut into hers and took a bite. “It really is.” Melinda said. “So why do you hate your name? I thought you and your grandfather were really close.”
“Don’t get me wrong, I’m proud I’m named after him.” Bob said, with a smile. “It’s just,” his smile faded. “My asshole father hated my grandfather and he would always bad mouth him to my mom when we were home. He hated him so much that he refused to call me Robert and always called me Bobby. Over time always hearing him yelling Bobby and using it as a way to degrade me just,” he sighed. “Made me hate my name, you know?”
“I get it.” Melinda said, nodding her head. “Did you know the name meaning for Robert?” He shook head. “In originated from the old Germanic element, hrod meaning fame, glory, and renown. And the element beraht meaning bright and shining. When you combine the elements together, it becomes Hrodebert, meaning bright fame, shining with glory and bright renown. It’s why a lot of Kings were named Robert. It’s very fitting that you and your grandfather were named Robert, you're both champions after all.”
“You know what baby,” Bob said, and he smiled. “I don’t hate my name anymore.”
“Good,” Melinda said, smiling “What name would you pick if you had a choice?”
“Hmm, I really don’t know. I never thought about that.” Bob said, and he started thinking. “Maybe something like, Rocco. Or maybe Rhett. Yeah,” he nodded his head. “One of those two.”
“Sticking with Rs?” Melinda said.
“Yeah,” Bob said, nodding his head. “Maybe our boys can be Dean Rocco and Sam Rhett. And maybe we can name one,” He smiled “Robert.”
“Sounds good to me babe.” Melinda said, smiling. “Want to know what those names mean?”
“I do,” Bob said, smiling. “Tell me.”
Melinda started telling him what the names mean and where they originated from while they ate. He always loved how she knew so much. And how Melinda was always excited to share what she knew with him. Though she always felt like a nerd for knowing so many random things. Bob always reminded her that her being a nerd was one of the many things he loved about her. They kept making small talk, but Melinda couldn’t help but notice that Bob was still jittery.
“Babe,” Melinda said looked up at her. “Are you okay? Your hands are a bit shaking.”
“Yeah.” Bob said, nodding his head as he looked down at them. “I think it’s from my shoulder and I’m still pretty nervous.” He looked back up at her. “It’s weird that I actually am, that we both are. We’ve eaten together so many times in public and we cook together at home. That’s another thing, we live together and share the same bed. We’ve kissed and gotten really touchy,” She giggled. “Not to mention that night on the ranch when we almost, you know.” They both smiled and blush. “I don’t know, I'm still really nervous about this date. Even with Tangerine’s help, I’m still worried I’m going to screw this up.”
“Tangerine’? Melinda said, raising an eyebrow. “Bob, did Tangerine set this all up?”
He sighed.” Yeah,” Bob said, nodding his head as he led back. “Back when we were working on the nursery while you were helping Lemon cook, me and Tangerine were talking. He asked why I haven’t asked you out and I told him, I was nervous about doing it and everytime I did work up the courage to ask you something would happen. Then I told him if I did ask you out and you said yes, I had no idea where to take you that I haven't already. That’s when he suggested this place,” he motioned with his hand. “He even set up the reservations for me. And uh, when it came to asking you out, he said when I won to just you. He said with all the adrenaline rush I’ll be going through me and I’ll have more than enough courage to ask you out.”
“The friend that caught you flowers,” Melinda said. “That was Tangerine wasn’t it?”
“He said it was really easy to break into my truck,” Bob said and she giggled. “He even gave me some advice about our date. That uh, I should show you that this isn’t just another one of those dinners that we are hanging out. That tonight, means more this time around by taking things so as if we weren’t living together. You know, take you home, walk you to the door, ask you out for a second date, kiss you goodnight, and then stay the night with my uncles.”
“Let me guess,” Melinda said, she smirked. “Then come the third date I would invite you to come in?”
He chuckled.”Yeah,” Bob said, nodding his head. “He guaranteed you would.”
She giggled. “Will they do say couples get intimate after the third date.” Melinda said, she gave him a wink and he blushed. “You know you don’t have to stay at your uncle’s tonight.”
“I know baby, but I want to.” Bob said, and he leaned forward. “I know we have strong feelings for each other and we both agree we want to be more than friends. Hell, I call you my wife and you call me your husband. And we got our kids' names picked out already.” They both smiled. “Though we’ve been getting closer and closer everyday, I still don’t want to rush things by getting into bed too soon. Because now we’re actually, you know, dating.” He smiled again. “Whoa, we’re actually dating.” She giggled and nodded her head. “Damn, I really didn’t think I'd ever say that.”
“But baby, like I was saying.” Bob said, putting his hand out to hers. She reached out and put her hand in his. “Now that we are dating, I want to make sure I get it right. It’s important that I get it right.” She nodded her head. “So I want to take things slow for a bit, just for a bit. Because come our third date and you invite me in.” He lowered his voice as he looked into her eyes. “I want to make love to you.” She blushed. “And then I uh,’ he looked down as he blushed and smiled. “I want to tell you something.” He looked up at her. “Something I’ve been meaning to tell you for a long time now. If.. if that’s okay.”
“It’s more than okay.” Melinda said, smiling. “Because there’s something I’ve been meaning to tell you too for a long time now.”
“Yeah?” Bob said, with a big smile.
“Yeah.” Melinda said, nodding her head. “Since we’re done eating, do you want to head out so you can take me home and ask me on that second date?”
“Yeah, but first.” Bob said, and he stood up. “Let’s dance one more time before we go.”
“Alright.” Melinda said. He helped her up and guided her to the dance floor once more. Bob took the lead as they slowly swayed together while they looked into each other’s eyes. “I thought you said you were a terrible dancer.”
“I was,” Bob said, he spun her around and brought her back to him. “You're just a great teacher.” They smiled as they pressed their foreheads together. “Thank you for saying yes.”
“You don’t have to thank me. I’ll always say yes to you.” Melinda said, kissing him gently then spoke against his lips. “Always.”

Wishing On Dandelions Part 35
“Melinda.” Bob whispered as he started to groan in pain. “I need… I need to get up… for her. I need to get up for her.” He tried to get up, but he went back down. “Come on, get up.” He groaned as he started to push himself up. “Get up fucker. Get up." His body was shaking from the pain. "You can't let her see you like this. Get up. Get up.” Cain started heading over to him as he managed to push himself up to his knees. “Don’t!” Cain stopped before he could grab him. “I need to do it myself for her. I need to do this for her.”
“Then get up Reynolds.” Cain said. “Get up for your girl.”
He got one foot out from under him and started slowly standing up. He went over for a moment, but he got himself with his other hand. He moved his other foot out from under him and he shot himself up. The crowd cheered for him as he raised one fist up in the air. The announcer started talking as Bob looked to where Melinda and the others were, but all he saw was Cecilia, Yelena and Lemon. Yelena stood up and pointed towards the gate.
“Bob!” Melinda yelled and he spun around to see her at the gate.
“Baby.” Bob said. He groaned as he grabbed his arm. He hurried to her as he tried not to stumble. “I’m sorry. I tried to...”
“There’s nothing to be sorry about okay? You did great out there.” Melinda said He smiled at her as they opened up the gate. “Come on, let’s get you over to the medical tent. Walker I need your help.”
“I got him boss.” Walker said, looping Bob’s good arm over his shoulder. “Just lean on me and take it nice and easy Bob.” They started heading over to the tent.
“How bad is it?” Melinda said.
“My whole left side hurts, but it’s mainly my shoulder and arm. It hurts like fucking hell.” Bob said as they got to the tent. “Baby, I heard a crunch when I landed.”
“We’ll get it looked at right now.” Melinda said, looking over at him and smiling. “You're going to be okay. I promise.” He smiled and nodded his head back.
Tangerine opened up the tent flaps. “Where the bloody hell is the nurse at?” Tangerine said.
“What?” Melinda said. “Royal.”
“Don’t worry hun, I’m already on it.” Royal said and he took off.
“Alright, let’s get you up here.” Melinda said. Walker and Tangerine help Bob up on the table. “Sorry babe, but got to open up your shirt to get a look.” He nodded his head and he started unbuttoning his shirt. “Okay I’m going to feel around, so brace yourself for the pain.” He moved his shirt over and she could see a large bump. He groaned as she started touching his shoulder and down to her arm. “It’s not broken, but your arm is dislocated from your shoulder.” They looked into each other's eyes. “It’s going have to pop it back in place.”
“Here she is.” Royal said and the nurse came in with him.
“I’m sorry.” Nancy said. “I had to use the bathroom.”
“It’s fine.” Melinda said. “Do you know how to pop his arm back in place?”
“No,” Nancy said, shaking her head. “I’m just a school nurse, I haven’t done anything like that.”
“Alright,” Melinda said. “I can do it but he needs something to bite on.”
“Here.” Walker said, taking off his belt and handing it to her. “This should work.”
“Thanks.” Melinda said, holding it to Bob’s mouth. “This is going to hurt like hell, are you ready?”
“Yeah,” Bob said, nodding his head. “Go for it baby.”
He opened up his mouth and she put the belt in it, then he bit down. “Okay, I’m going to take a hold of your arm and press on your shoulder, it’s going to hurt.” Melinda said and he nodded his head. She got his arm, making him groan in pain as she got in position. “Okay, now I’m…” She hesitated as she tensed up. “I... I don’t know if I can do this.”
“Don’t worry love.” Tangerine said, putting his hand on her shoulder. “I can do it. Done it plenty of times for Lemon when we were on assignment.”
“Thank you.” Melinda said.
He nodded his head and they switched positions. “Alright Robert, take deep breaths.” Tangerine said. Bob took deep breaths. “Ready?” Bob nodded his head. “On the count of,” He twisted, causing a loud pop and Bob let out a muffled yell as Tangerine let go of him. “Deep breaths mate, deep breaths.” Bob started taking deep breaths again.
“It’s okay babe, it’s okay.” Melinda said. She wrapped her arms around Bob's as he put his good arm around her. “I need to check to make sure it’s in, okay?” He nodded his head and she started touching his shoulder as he panted lightly. “You're good, it’s back in place.”
He opened his mouth and she took the belt out. “Fuck.” Bob said and he looked at Tangerine. “I feel like ... that one was... personal.”
“Just a little bit.” Tangerine said, with a smirk. “You good though bruv?”
“Yeah,” Bob said, nodding his head. “I’m good.”
“Reynolds.” Cain said, coming into the tent. “Are you good to go?”
“What do you mean?” Bob said.
“Didn’t you guys hear the results?” Cain said, they shook their heads. “You made third place in the last round, Reynolds. You're in the final round.”
“What?” Bob said, with wide eyes.
“Yeah.” Cain said, nodding his head. “It’s down to you, Jonathan and Alex. They sent me over here to see if you were good so they can start the final round.”
“Oh shit. I made it?” Bob said, he chuckled a bit. “Tell them I’ll be right there.”
“Wait,” Melinda said. “You just dislocated your shoulder. You can’t go back out there.”
“I have to baby.” Bob said. “I just need something for the pain and I’m good to go.”
“Bob,” Melinda whispered as tears started to form.
“Let’s give them privacy.” Royal said and they stepped outside.
“Baby,” Bob said, putting his hands on her face. “I know you're scared, more than you were before. And I won’t lie, I’m scared like hell too. But being out there tonight, it was different this time around. I felt,” he paused. “I felt like my grandfather was out there with me. He always said, one day I was going to compete in the championship and have my name alongside his. I never thought that day would ever come after the drugs and drinking, but here I am. Competing for a title that my grandfather held for several years before he retired.” He smiled. “I want to finish what I started, baby. I need to finish what I started. Not just for my family. Not just for you. But for myself.” He pressed his forehead against hers. “I want to prove to myself that I’m more just an ex druggie and drunk. I want to prove to myself that I am something.” He pulled back and looked into her eyes. “Please baby, I need to do this. I need to do this please.”
“Babe,” Melinda whispered, she kissed him then spoke against his lips. “Promise me one thing.”
“Anything baby.” Bob said.
She pulled back. “You remember those kids were talking about a while back?" Melinda said and Bob smiled as he nodded his head. "I want you to promise, you'll tell them the story of how you become the bull riding champion just like your grandfather.” She smiled.
“I promise baby.” Bob said, giving her a kiss. “Thank you for understanding.” She nodded her head. “You guys can come back in.” They came back into the tent. “Cain, tell them I’m good to go.”
“You got it.” Cain said and he took off.
“Now I just need….” Bob said. They started hearing a commotion outside. “What the hell is going on?”
“I’ll check it out.” Royal said.
“I’ll go with you.” Tangerine said they stepped out.
“Okay, since they are doing that. Let me get you something for pain.” Nancy said, going over to the cabinets. “I got morphine.”
“No morphine.” Melinda, Walker and Bob said.
“Okay,” Nancy said. “Why not?”
“He’s in recovery, so he can’t have morphine or any type of drug like that.” Melinda said. “Just give him Tylenol. We have a brand new bottle in the cabinets that I put in last night when I restocked everything up.”
“A small amount won’t affect him.” Nancy said. “I can…”
She got right in Nancy’s face. “Listen school nurse,” Melinda said. “I was a head nurse of one of the top ERs back in New York for years before coming out here. I have seen people in recovery a lot longer than him that were given a small amount of morphine and got addicted before they left our emergency room. So no you're not giving him morphine.” She glared at Nancy. “And if you do, I will get a hold of the medical board and strip you of everything single medical degree and license you have. I’ll make it to where you won’t even be able to give your friends and family medical advice. So if you don’t want that, I suggest you give him Tylenol and send him on his way.”
“Okay. I’ll give him the Tylenol.” Nancy said, nodding her head and Melinda backed off. “I’ll give him the Tylenol.”
The commission outside got louder. “That sounds like Simmons.” Walker said. “I’m going to check it out.”
“I’ll go too.” Melinda said. “I don’t need Tangerine to dislocate Simmons’ jaw again.”
“Alright baby,” Bob said, nodding his head. “I’ll be out there in a bit.” They headed out.
“I got to say.” Nancy said, going over to the cabinets. “Your girlfriend is tense.”
“My wife actually.’ Bob said, smiling. “She’s my wife.”
“Wife?” Nancy said and he responded with hmm-mm. “Ooookay.” She grabbed the Tylenol out and opened it. “I thought your wife said this was brand new.” She held her hand out and two pills came out. “Only got two left.”
“That’s weird.” Bob said, taking the pills from her. “I was with her when she restocked everything, she’s really thorough.” He popped them in his mouth.
“Maybe some cheapskates opened up a bottle and helped themselves to it when I went to the bathroom.” Nancy said, throwing the bottle into the trash can.
“Maybe.” Bob said.
“Round of applause for Johnathan Maverick and Ghost!” The crowd cheered.
“Shit, I need to get out there.” Bob said as he jumped down from the table. “Thanks.” He ran out of the tent as Melinda ran over to him. “Baby, what happened?”
“Simmons and his buddies were throwing another shit fit.” Melinda said, Bob rolled his eyes. “Now they are claiming you bribed the judges to get into the championship.”
“Oh okay.” Bob said, in a mocking voice and making Melinda giggle. “Are they still here?”
“No,” Melinda said. “They got kicked out and…”
“Reynolds!” Cain yelled. “Let’s go! You're up!”
“I got to go baby.” Bob said.
“I’ll go with you.” Melinda said and they ran over. He quickly got up on the gate and looked down at her. “Go on, babe. I’ll be at the other gate waiting for you.”
"Okay baby,' Bob said, giving her a quick kiss before she hurried off. He climbed up the gate, groaning as he did. “Fuck, my shoulder.” Bob said, he got over the other side and he got on the Bone Cruncher. He went to grab the bull rope, but he couldn’t grip it. “I can’t.” He shook his head. “I can’t grip it.”
“I got you.” Cain said. He forced Bob’s hand to grip the rope, causing to grunt. Cain rubbed the rope so the rosin glue got on the glove. “Alright, stick your hand under the rope.” Bob moved his hand to the main rope around the bull and Cain forced his hand to close around it. “Good?”
“Yeah, I’m good.” Bob said, nodding his head. “I’m good.”
“Look.” Cain said, pointing over to the gate and Bob looked over, seeing Melinda smiling at him. “Your girl is right there, she’s there for you. No matter what happens in this round, win or lose. You remember that girl of yours will always be there for you alright?” Bob nodded his head. “Now give them hell Reynolds.”
“I will.” Bob said, grunting as he grip the rope tighter. “I will.”
“Last ride of the night folks! Robert Reynolds and Bone Cruncher! Who’s going to come on top!? The rider or the bull!? It’s time for Robert Reynolds to remind us why he is still the reigning JR Champion!”
Bob nodded his head and the horn sounded. The gate opened and Bone Cruncher came out like a bat out of hell. He spun and buckled, doing everything he could to throw Bob off of him. But Bob refused to let go no matter how bad his shoulder was hurting. He kept holding on that rope like his life was debating on it. Because to him, it did. So he pushed through the pain and held on that rope as long as he could. And just like last round, he was too close to the ground to fully twist around when he flew off. But he didn’t have to worry about twisting his body around that this time. Because was thrown forward, allowing him to land on his feet and his hands. The crowd cheered as he got to his feet as they rounded up Bone Cruncher and put him away.
“Robert Reynolds making a comeback after the fall in the last round! Time to see if that pays off!” They all looked at the leader board in silence as they watched Bob’s name slowly move up before locking in place. Bob's eyes widened as the crowd jumped out of their seats and cheered at the top of their lungs. “Like a phoenix rising from the ashes Robert Reynolds has raised back up to reclaim his place as champion!”
Bob looked over at the gate where Melinda was as they opened it for her. She ran over to him and he started running over to her. He held out his arms for her and she jumped into his arms. She wrapped herself around him as he wrapped his arms around her. As soon as their lips met, the crowd went into a frizzing as they cheered even louder.
“Sorry ladies, it looks like our new rodeo champion Robert Reynolds is off the market!”
He pulled back and looked into her eyes. “Baby, you want to go on a date with me?” Bob said and he started getting nervous. “I mean, not tonight. Just whenever. Or tonight. If you… if you want to tonight. So yeah, want to uh go on a date tonight?”
“Are you asking me out on an actual date? Melinda said, smiling.
“Yeah, I am.” Bob said, nodding his head. “Do you want to go on a date with me tonight baby? An actual date?”
“Yes.” Melinda said, giggling. “Yes.”
Bob smiled as they kissed again as the crowd continued to cheer them on. When they finally came up for air, he sat her down on her feet. As the judges came over and announced him the new champion. Then they handed him the mic and asked him to make a speech.
“I’ve been one for speeches so, I’m going to keep this short and simple. First of all I want to thank my grandfather Robert Anderson." He took off his hat, along with the others. "Without him, I would have never found my passion to ride. And I'm want to dedicate tonight's win to him." They cheered. "Now I want to thank my family and my friends for supporting me during all this. A special thanks to a friend of mine who spent several days training me to fall gracefully on my feet and not my face.” They all laugh. “But most importantly I want to thank this wonderful, amazing and beautiful woman standing next to me here.” He looked down at her. “If it wasn’t for you baby, I couldn’t have done this. Thank you for everything.” He leaned over and kissed her, making the crowd cheer. Then he looked back at the crowd. “And thank you all for coming out and cheering me and the other riders on. We appreciate it. Have a goodnight.”
He handed the mic back and they handed him his trophy. He put his hat on Melinda's head, then he wrapped his sore arm around her waist. He held the trophy up high with the other one. The judges cheered and the crowd joined in as they started launching fireworks and confetti into the sky. He looked down at her as she looked up at him, he leaned down kissing her before resting his forehead against hers.
“Let’s get out here and get ready for our date.” Bob said, smiling. “What do you say baby?”
“Let’s go.” Melinda said, smiling.
The announcer started wrapping things off as they started walking over to the gate. The crowd started chatting his name and he threw the trophy back up, making them cheer again. The gate opened up for them and they went through as a group of people came over. Fans from the stands came to congratulate Bob on the win. They congratulated him and took pictures. He was trying to thank everyone as people started asking questions. More people started to gather around and Melinda could feel Bob get tense up, having this many people surrounding him.
"Excuse me everyone," Melinda said, smiling. "I know you guys are very excited and Bob appreciates you guys. But as you guys know, he did suffer that fall in the fourth round that caused him to dislocate his shoulders. We did manage to get it popped in place, but he still needs to go to the ER to get it checked out. If you guys would be so kind as to let us through we would really appreciate it." They smiled and stepped aside as they wished for him well.
"Thank you everyone for your support. I appreciate you guys." Bob said, and they started walking again. "Thanks baby, I was going to start freaking out."
“No problem babe.” Melinda said, laying her head against him as they made it to the others. “Like I said, I’m here for you.”
He kissed the top of her head as they made it to the others. They started hugging him and patting his back as they congratulated him on the win. Cecilia went all mom mode and demanded they take pictures. So they took some pictures together before they headed to the parking lot.
“I think to celebrate we should all head to the ranch.” Royal said. “We’ll have a bonfire and do some good old fashion grilling outside.”
“That sounds good but uh,” Bob said, smiling. “I finally asked Melinda out on that date so,”
She squealed in excitement. “What?” Yelena said, smiling. “You finally asked her out?” She smacked his good arm. “Took you look enough.” They laugh.
“Yeah I know.” Bob said, smiling as he nodded his head. “But we can do that tomorrow night, if that’s alright.”
“That’s fine.” Royal said, smiling. “Go on and take that girl out on a date.”
“We’ll see you guys tomorrow.” Bob said. They headed over to his truck. “How about we go to that new steakhouse that opened up a couple weeks ago.”
“Sounds good to me.” Melinda said, she looked over at him. “But don’t we need reservations to eat there?”
“Yeah.” Bob said, nodding his head as they got to his truck. He moved her around and leaned her up against his truck. “That’s why,” he smiled. “I made reservations earlier this week for tonight.”
“So sneaking.” Melinda said, smiling.
“You love it.” Bob said, leaning down and kissing her.
The other decided to head home since they’ll be celebrating tomorrow. So everyone loaded up in their vehicles and took off. Everyone except Tangerine. Who was leaning up against his car while he smoked a cigarette. He was looking over at Melinda and Bob as they made out by his truck like a couple of teenagers. Tangerine could hear Melinda’s laughter as Bob helped her into the truck. He kept his eyes on them as they drove off into the night. He moved his neck around, causing it to pop as he grunted. He heard a pair of footsteps walking over to him and stopped next to him.
He took a drag off his cigarette. “Just like I suggested, he asked her out on that date.” Tangerine said, blow out the smoke. “I want you two over there to that new steakhouse and keep an eye on them. When you see your chance, take it. Then we’ll meet back up afterwards to finish this.” The footsteps retreated as he flicked his cigarette. “Nothing like a steak for your last meal, bull rider.”

“That’s it baby, right there.” Bob said, letting out a light moan. “Hmm, fuck.” He closed his eyes as a smile formed on his face. “Your hands are amazing, baby.” Melinda went fast and harder as she kept going. “Fuck. Just like that. Just like that.” He moaned louder. “Fuck. Fuck.” He gripped the sheets as he started grunting. “Baby.” He let out a deep growl when she put more pressure. “I don’t think… I can take it… anymore. Hmm fuck.” She kept going. “Baby, please. Fuck. Please, baby. Please.”
“It’s alright daddy,” Melinda said, smiling. “Mama is almost done.”
“Fuck.” Bob whispered. “I can’t resist you baby when you call me that.”
“I know.” Melinda said, giggling as she felt his body tense up. “Here it comes. You ready daddy?”
“Yeah.” Bob said, nodding his head. “I’m ready mama. I’m ready.” She applied all her weight and there was a loud pop. “Oh fuck.” He sighed heavily as his body relaxed. “Now…” He panted a bit. “My back feels… ten times better.”
“I told you I could rub those knots out and get your back to pop.” Melinda said. She rolled off his back and laid down next to him. “Feel looser now?”
He twisted around, making his spin pop. “Oh yeah.” Bob said, smiling. He did it the other way, making his spin pop more. “Fuck me.” He rolled to his side to look at her. “I didn’t realize I had all those knots. Thanks for massaging my back for me baby, it was amazing.”
“If you think that’s amazing.” Melinda said, smirking. “Wait till I massage something else for you.”
“Yeah?” Bob said, smiling.
“Yeah.” Melinda said, nodding her head.
“Come here baby.” Bob said, pulling her towards him as he climbed on top of her and got between her legs. “Hmm,” He gave her a kiss as she wrapped herself around him. “I still can’t believe what we almost did that night.” He smiled as he pulled back a bit. “All the stuff you were saying and doing to me. To be honest baby,” He blushed a bit. “The way you were touching me, I don’t think I would have lasted long.”
She giggled a bit. “That’s okay.” Melinda said, putting her hands on his face. “Because as soon as you were ready to go again, I was going to go for round two.” She winked.
“Fuck,” Bob whispered. “You're bad.” He smiled.
“But you love it.” Melinda said, smiling.
“Yeah I do.” Bob said, kissing her. “Among other things.”
“Like what?” Melinda said.
“These lips.” Bob said, kissing her lips. “Your breasts.” He grabbed her breast, making her moan. “And,” he moved his hand down and around her. “This ass.” He squeezed it, making her moan again. “I love the way you moan and gasp at my touch. I love the way you taste.” He kissed her lips again. “I love everything about you.” He rubbed up against her, making her gasp when she felt how hard he was. “Everything. I love how gorgeous and stunning you always look, in whatever you wear.” He looked into her eyes. “I especially love your eyes. I love staring into your beautiful hazel eyes. They just draw you in and keep you there. I can stare into your eyes for hours baby. For hours.” She smiled. “And that smile,” he smiled back at her. “It’s to die for. Just like that giggle of yours.” He put his hand on her face. “I love absolutely everything about you. But do you know what I love the most about you baby?”
“No,” Melinda said. “What do you love about me the most?”
“Your heart.” Bob said, as he stroked her face. “Because you have so much love and passion for everything you do. You're kind and caring, and so sweet because of how big your heart is. Because of your heart, you see me, the real me. Not the former drug addict or ex alcoholic. You see me, just me. That’s why I fell in love with… your heart. I love your heart, more than anything that’s what I love about you. I love your heart.”
“Oh babe,” Melinda whispered as she smiled. “I… don’t know what to say.”
“You don’t have to say anything baby,” Bob whispered as shook his head. “Nothing at all.” He smiled. “Because of that heart of yours, I feel like I can do anything, be anything. You make me a better person baby. That's because,” He kissed her gently and spoke against it. “Tu eres mi corazon (You are my heart.)” He continued kissing her as he moved his hand behind her head and she did the same. Their kiss started to pick up as he rubbed up against her. She moaned into his mouth, making him groan into her. Then his alarm went off, causing them both to sigh in frustration as they pulled away. “We got to get ready.”
“Yeah.” Melinda said, nodding her head. “Let’s get ready.”
Bob got off the bed and then helped her up. They gathered up their clothes and started getting dressed for the rodeo. She kept looking over at him as he focused on getting ready. His words echo in her head, and none were louder than his unspoken words. When he was going to confess his feelings for her but he changed his words around at the last second. He was scared to tell her how she felt and she knew it. Because she was scared of telling him those three little words too. That’s when she knew, she finally was going to have to sit him down and tell him.
“Bob,” Melinda said and he turned to her. “I need to talk with Tangerine.”
“About what baby?” Bob said.
“That me and him will never happen again.” Melinda said, taking Bob off guard. “He needs to know that there won't ever be a chance of me and him ever getting back together. That,” she took a deep breath. “That my heart belongs to someone else now. To you.”
“You mean that?” Bob said.
“I do.” Melinda said, nodding her head. “More than anything.”
“Baby,” Bob said, smiling. “I….” He chuckled nervously .”Now I don’t know what to say.”
“You don’t have to say anything babe,” Melinda said, smiling. “Nothing at all.” He smiled as walked over to her and wrapped his arms around her. She wrapped her arms around him as he leaned down and kissed her. The kiss quickened and became tense in a matter of seconds. Then the second alarm went off, making them pull apart again. “You need to get going.”
“Don’t you mean we baby?” Bob said.
“No,” Melinda said, shaking her head. “I can’t put this off. He needs to know before it drags on any longer.” She put her hands on his face. “I promise, I’ll be there before everything starts.”
“Okay baby,” Bob said, giving her another kiss. “You sure you want to do this now? I just don’t want you to tell him on your own. What if.. What if he does something to you?”
“He won’t.” Melinda said, shaking her head. “He may be a former assassin, but he’ll never put his hands on me. No matter how mad he gets, he won’t put his hands on me, ever. I promise babe, I’ll be okay.”
“Alright,” Bob said, nodding his head. “Let’s finish getting ready then.”
After they finished getting ready, they walked out of the apartment together. They gave each other a kiss and they parted ways. She watched him get on the elevator and the doors closing behind him. Then she went next door and took a deep breath before she knocked on it. She heard his voice calling out he would be right there, then the door opened up.
“Hey love,” Tangerine said, smiling. “Already for tonight?”
“Yeah,” Melinda said, nodding her head. “But before we head out, can we talk? It’s important.”
“Sure love,” Tangerine said, stepping aside. “Come on in.”
An Hour Later At The Rodeo: Elimination Night
They started announcing the bull riders. One by one, they called their names and they stepped out into the area. They waved to the crowd and then set over where the others were in a line. As they called their names, Bob had his head down and was staring at his feet. He was more than nervous, he was worried, he was scared. Not about riding, but about Melinda. She wasn't there yet and he couldn’t call her since Royal was holding his phone for him. He rolled up his left sleeve, looking at his tattoo he got done for her. His heart started to race as his hands started to shake.
“Fuck this, I’m leaving.” Bob said. A hand was placed on his forearm and his head snapped up. “Baby, you're here.” He smiled.
“Of course.” Melinda said, smiling. “I told you I would be.”
“Baby,” Bob said. He pulled her aside so the others in line wouldn’t hear them. “Are you okay?” He put his hands on her face. “He didn’t hurt you, did he?”
“No babe, he didn’t hurt me. I’m fine.” Melinda said. “It actually went well.”
“Really?” Bob said.
“Yeah,” Melinda said, smiling. “He actually didn’t get upset.”
“Are you serious?” Bob said and she nodded her head. “I don’t know if I should be happy or terrified about that.”
She giggled. “I know what you mean. I was expecting him to start cussing up a storm or start begging me to reconsider, but he didn’t.” Melinda said, shrugged her shoulders. “He was completely calm the whole time. I told him that I was no longer in love with him and that I was moving on with my life. That I had feelings for you and you had feelings for me. And we both wanted to see where it goes. I told him that me and him could never be more than just friends. That,” She sighed. “There was too much damage done and there was no way of fixing it. Even if me and you didn’t have feelings for each other. I couldn’t be with him because I couldn’t trust him not to run off again. He said that he understood where I was coming from. And he had a feeling this talk was coming because he sees how we are together. He said that he sees how we look at each other and act around each other. That he knows you are a better man for me, than he ever could be. Because deep down, he knows he really screwed up and there aren’t enough sorries in the world to make the pain he caused me go away. He said that he’ll always love me and that I’ll have a special place in his heart.”
“And to show that he really loves me, he’ll step aside and allow us to be happy together.” Melinda said and they both smiled at each other. “He’s agreed that staying as friends is what's best for both of us. He also said for me to let you know that this changes nothing between the two of you. He’s going to continue to be respectful towards you. That he does see you as a friend and sees you are a good man. He also said he’ll still train you to fall gratefully,” they both laugh a bit. “And he said, don’t screw things up with me like he did. And if you break my heart, he’s going to break your neck and bury you where no one will ever find you. So you know, there’s that.”
“That’s never going to happen baby.” Bob said, smiling. “Because you are mi corazon.” He leaned down to kiss her when some let out a high pitch whistle. He turned to the line and one of the cowboys pointed out that he was coming up. “I’ll be right there.” He turned to Melinda. “I got to go baby.”
“Alright, good luck.” Melinda said, smiling. ‘You got this.”
“Thanks baby,” Bob said, giving a quick kiss and took off back to the line. “I’ll see you out there.”
Melinda quickly hurried back to the stands and took her seat with the others. After a couple of riders were called, they called Bob’s name. They all got up and started cheering for him as he entered the area. He smiled and waved at Melinda and the others as he walked over to join the other riders in line. Bob kept his eyes on Melinda and she kept her eyes on him as they continued to announce the other riders. He could see Tangerine was sitting next to her, but his focus wasn’t on her. He was mostly talking to Walker and a couple of girls sitting in front of them.
He could tell Tangerine was flirty with them. He was winking and smiling at them, and he was making them laugh. Though it looked like he was already moving on, it just seemed off somehow. Like he was forcing himself to look happy and talk with the other women. After all, how could Tangerine just turn off his feelings for Melinda. He wanted to marry her and have kids with her, just the other day. Tangerine was even willing to sacrifice himself in order to keep her safe. Then soon as he was out of danger, he came straight back to her. He was still fighting for her the moment Melinda called out Bob’s name in bed. All he wanted since he met Melinda was her, and now he didn’t?
So why was he flirting with these girls all of sudden? Was he trying to make Melinda jealous? Was he trying to get her to realize she still had feelings for him? If that was his plan, it wasn’t working. Melinda didn’t react to it, not once. Her eyes were on Bob the whole time, paying no mind to Tangerine and his flirting. Maybe Tangerine was flirting to flirt, so he can try to start moving on. He did say he was waiting for her to talk to him about just being friends. And he was going to step aside so they could be happy together. But something deep down told Bob to keep his guard around Tangerine, despite his words.
They started announcing the rules of the Elimination Night, which snapped Bob out of his thoughts. After they were done with the rules, they started doing the random selection for the riders. Bob got lucky with the line up, he was number thirty nine. He was going to have some breathing room if he made it in the top forty two. But now, it was time for them to get assigned the bulls. Twelve bulls, getting assigned to four riders. Two riders had bulls that were assigned to the rider before them. They shook their heads, knowing the bull performance was going to count against them. Once the riders were all assigned their bulls, they started the rodeo.
They announced the rider and their bull, then sounded the horn. One by one, the riders rode and were told their total at the end of their turn. Riders' names were getting switched around on the leaderboard. They were bumped down the while others went higher up on it. Slowly, round after round the riders were getting eliminated. Now they were finally at the third round and things got harder for Bob. He barely was making the cut off point. Now he was going to ride back to back. Then the bull he got was a bull that hadn’t ridden good in years. And so far every rider that had him was eliminated.
“Back with us again is Robert Reynolds folks! Let’s see if the Jr Champion can stay in this with good old Twister as his bull!”
“Come on Reynolds.” Cain said. Him and the others helped Bob get onto the bull and kept him steady. “Remember, deep breaths.”
“Yeah, deep breaths.” Bob said, taking a hold of the rope, gripping it tight. He took a deep breath as he looked down at his tattoo. “We got this baby.”
He looked up and nodded his head and the horn sounded. The gate opened up and the bull took off as it started trying to throw Bob off of it. Bob kept his hold as Twister did what he did best, twist around. He kept spinning around, making Bob nausea. Then when he buckled, Bob was taken off guard with the sudden change. But he kept his grip, refusing to be thrown off. Then Twister spun around again, making him more nauseated. Bob kept his hold till Twister buckled again. He lost his grip and went down to the ground. He got up as fast as he could and moved away as they rounded up Twister.
Bob looked over at the leaderboard, seeing his name and his score. He looked over at Melinda and the others, smiling as they cheered him on. Bob’s score wasn’t high like he wanted but it was a good standing that there was a chance he’ll stay in the top twenty two. He motioned his head to Melinda and she got out of her seat as he made his way back to the gate. She started heading over to the gate area where people could talk with the riders. She quickly ran up to him as he got to the gate.
“I feel like throwing up, baby.” Bob said as he put his hands on the gate as he took a deep breath. “Like really bad.”
“Here.” Melinda said, handing him her water. “Drink it slowly.” He slowly drank the water and took some more deep breaths. “Still feeling it?”
“Yeah,” Bob said, nodding his head.
“You alright mate?” Tangerine said walking up.
“Feeling like throwing up my guts.” Bob said.
“Give me your left hand.” Tangerine said and Bob looked at him weird. “Just give me your bloody hand Robert.” Bob put his hand through the gate and he took a hold of Bob’s wrist. “This may hurt.” He pressed down with his thumb on Bob’s wrist, making him cuss under his breath. “Told you.” He let go of Bob’s hand.
“What the…” Bob said, he paused. “Uh. I don’t feel like throwing up anymore.”
“Was that a pressure point you used?” Melinda said.
“Yeah,” Tangerine said, lighting his cigarette. “I used to get car sick when I was younger, the old man would always do that. It bloody hurts, but it got the job done.”
“Any side effects to this?” Bob said.
“Taste buds will be numb for a few hours.” Tangerine said. “But other than that, your good mate.”
“Thanks man, I appreciate it.” Bob said. Tangerine nodded his head and walked off to the stands. “I have to admit baby, I’m really surprised he started flirting with those girls right there in front of you. I know you're moving on with me, but you’ve been processing all this for months now. And him,” He looked over at Tangerine seeing him smoking off and talking with one of the girls from eariler. “It's only been a couple hours or so.” He looked back at her. “You think he’s trying to make you jealous so you’ll want him again?”
“To be honest babe, I’m not sure.” Melinda said, shrugging her shoulders. “When we were together and guys flirted with me, he got jealous and he reacted. He didn’t go out and flirt with other girls in front of me or anything like that. But he would get into the guys’ faces and even shoved a few away from me. Then afterwards he would make comments to me saying I was trying to make him jealous to get him riled up. And that,” She sighed. “That I was craving other guys' attention that I needed to tell him so he could back up and leave, instead of me trying to fool around behind his back. Of course all that led to was me crying and he would shower me with gifts to say he was sorry.” She put her head down. “At least now I know why he did all that fucked up shit.
“Hey,” Bob said, putting his hand on her face, making her look up at him. “He was an asshole for that and I’m sorry he put you through that. But I promise you baby, I won’t be like that okay? I’ll never treat you like that, I promise.”
“I know you won’t.” Melinda said, putting her hand on his as she smiled up at him. “I won’t you know, Tangerine flirting doesn't make me jealous or upset. It’s because I don’t want him, I want you.” He smiled at her. “Plus, he was a man whore before we got together, so it could be him going back to that.” Bob nodded his head. “Or he is hurting with what happened and using a girl’s vaj-jay to make him feel better.” They laugh a bit. “I’m just saying. After all he went and slept with that so call look a like of me after he got my letter. But whatever the reason it is, hopefully it helps him move on.”
“Yeah.” Bob said, nodding his head. “Hopefully.”
“You still look nervous.” Melinda said and he nodded his head. “About your score or him?” Bob looked down. “Be honest babe.”
“Him.” Bob said, looking up. “I don’t know why, but I got this little voice in my head telling me he’s full of shit. That he’s up to something. I don’t know baby,” He shook his head. “I think I’m just overthinking things because,” He sighed. “I always worry about you going back to him. I think, hearing him willing to step aside and let you go, just… Just seems too good to be true, you know?”
“Yeah, I know.” Melinda said, nodding her head. “With both of our track records when things start going good, they go to shit for us. So now, we end up expecting it.” He nodded his head. “If Tangerine is up to something, it won’t make any difference. Because I don’t plan on ever going back with him. And whatever he does, won’t change that. I’m in your corner now, not his. I’ll stick by your side no matter, hell or high water, I’ll be here for you. I’ll always be here for you.”
“What if,” Bob said, looking down for a moment. “What if things get really bad?” He looked back up at her. “What if I end up having a really, really bad day? What if I get pushed so hard by life that I… that I fall off the wagon?”
“You won’t.” Melinda said, moving closer to him. “Because I’ll be there to catch you.”
“Baby.” Bob whispered as his eyes started to tear up. “I love,” They made an announcement over the speakers of who was advancing to the final round. They both looked at each other while the names got called. Melinda and Bob both got anxious as they started reaching the last three places. Then they both sigh in relief when they hear Bob’s name get called for place twenty. “Looks like I made it to the final round, baby.” He smiled.
“I knew you would.” Melinda said, smiling. They started announcing for the remaining riders to return to the area. “Looks like you're on cowboy.”
“Yeah,” Bob said, nodding his head. “I should get going. But first,” He climbed up on the gate and leaned over. “I need a kiss from my wife.” She climbed up the gate a bit and gave him a kiss. “You taste as sweet as the first time I kissed you.” She blushed and giggled. “I got to go baby. Cheer me on, okay?”
“Always.” Melinda said, he got down and started heading back. “Husband.” He stopped and turned back around. “What were you going to say?”
“That I,” Bob said, swallowing hard. “That I love you always being there for me.”
“I love you always being there for me too.” Melinda said, smiling. “Get going dork.”
“Nerd.” Bob said.
He smiled and turned back around, then hurried off. Melinda let out a heavy sigh, knowing what Bob really wanted to say. But she wasn’t going to push him to tell the truth. She knew he needed to take his time and say it when he was ready, just like she did. Melinda got down off the gate and headed back to her seat as Tangerine came back over. They looked over at the leaderboard, seeing the names being placed up and Bob’s name was the last one. They started assigning the bulls to the riders and Bob clenched his jaw, seeing he was assigned Twister again. He looked over at Melinda and she mouthed to him, “you got this.” He nodded his head and the riders went back to the gate so the final round could start.
Bob kept his eyes closed as he took deep breaths. He was doing his best to drown at the other riders’ score. He didn’t want to know them. If he did, the more nervous he would get back placing in the top twelve. When he started to lose focus, he started thinking of Melinda. He focused on her eyes, her smile, the way she tasted and smelled. He started smiling as he started hearing her voice in his head. He focused on those three little words she said. It didn’t matter she didn’t say she loved him directly, it just mattered she said them.
“Reynolds.” Cain called out. Bob opened up his eyes and looked up at the gate. “Let’s go.” He motioned his head and Bob went over to the gate and climbed over. They helped him on Twister and Bob grabbed the rope tight. “You got this Reynolds. You got this.”
Bob took a deep breath and nodded his head. The horn sounded and they opened up the gate. Twister came out and started to buckle Bob off, but he kept his grip as tight as he could on the rope. He focused on his breath as Twister kept trying to throw him off. Then the bull started to spin around and Bob held his breath, waiting for the wave of nausea to hit him. But it never did. The pressure point kept the nausea at bay allowing him to stay focused. Bob held on as tight and as long as he could, till Twister finally threw him off. When he hit the ground, he rolled for a bit and got up. He moved back as they rounded up Twister.
“This is it folks! Time to find out if our Jr Champion will make it to the finals!”
They all looked at the leaderboard, seeing them adding up Bob’s points. As they did, his name slowly started climbing up the leaderboard. Bob kept his eyes on the leaderboard. Melinda and Yelena were holding hands, anxiously waiting. Walker, Cecilia, and Royal kept begging the score to go higher. Lemon was slightly praying. Tangerine stayed calm as he looked at the board.
“Come on,” Melinda said, bouncing her leg up and down. “Come on.”
“Don’t worry love,” Tangerine said as he rubbed her back to calm her. “Robert will make it. He’ll make it.”
“We’re getting close here folks!” Bob’s name was slowly creeping close to twelfth place. “Like’s like Robert Reynolds will be in!” His name stopped at thirteenth place, then one more point got added and his name got moved to the twelfth place before the leader board lit up. “TWELFTH PLACE!” Everyone shot up out of their seats and they started cheering at the top of their lungs. “ROBERT REYNOLDS IS IN THE FINALS FOLKS!” Bob pounded on his chest and then threw his fists up, causing the crowd to cheer louder. “ROBERT REYNOLDS IS GOING TO THE FINALS! HE’S GOING TO THE FINALS!”

Wishing On Dandelions Part 4
Without a word, Melinda walked into her apartment with Bob following behind. She tossed her keys at the end table, missing it. She kicked off her shoes, flinging them towards the kitchen. Bob quietly picked them up and put them in their places as Melinda picked a spot on the living room floor and laid down. He closed and locked the door as he looked over at her.
"Want a pillow?" Bob said, slowly walking over to her, not knowing what to do. She just shook her head. "Want your blanket?" She shook her head again. "Okay. Okay" He nodded his head as he looked around to see what else he could offer but nothing came to mind. "Do you....do you want me to go?" He looked back at her as she shook her head again. "What would you like me to do?" She padded the floor next to her. "Okay I can do that."
Bob followed her guestered and laid down next to her. He placed his hands on his stomach and fiddled with his thumbs. A few minutes ago without a word spoken and Bob started to get more anxious. He places his right foot on top of his left and starts swaying them from side to side. Bob turned his head to look over at Melinda, who was still staring at the ceiling with a blank expression.
He looked back to the ceiling, then back to her again. He did this a few more times. And as he did, his feet swaying got faster each time. Then it dawned on him. Dancing it out was something Melinda did whenever she was sad. They would often dance together whenever she dreamed about Tangerine.
"Want to dance it out ?" Bob said, looking at her with an encouraging smile. "I can put on the Edge of Seventeen. I know it's your favorite song to dance to." She stayed still for a moment and his smile got bigger. Then she shook her head, surprising him. His smile quickly faded and he turned his attention back up to the ceiling. "Okay. Okay." Not sure of what to do, he did the only thing he could think of which was to simply ask her. "What do you need? Tell me, and I'll do it."
"I just need a way to process this and then, have a good cry," Melinda said, and they both looked over at each other. "What do you do during times like this?" He started chewing the inside of his mouth. This was something he would do when he thought of the times he used. The pain of it, would snap him out of it. "I'm sorry."
"It's okay. Now what I do is uhh." Bob said, letting out a nervous chuckle. "I....I write music. I write music and play a few instruments. I can sing too. My grandma taught me." Bob said, smiling at her. " It helps me get out of my head for a bit. Focusing on the notes, on the lyrics. I actually..." He started going through his pocket. "Been working on a song since you got your blood work done." He pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket and started to unfold it. "I finished it after....after the appointment...today."
"That's what you were working on in the car?" Melinda said, looking at him curiously.
"Yeah." Bob said, taking a deep breath and letting it out. "I was so worried about all the stuff they were going to test you for. Worrying about....the baby." She looked down for a moment. "Hey." She looked back up at him. "Can I....can I play it for you? Maybe...maybe it will help you get out of your head too. Even if it's just for a moment." She nodded her head. "Alright, I got the piano recording on my phone." He pulled it out and started going through it. "I did this last night so it's....bit rough...so bare with me okay?" He cleared his throat as he looked at his lyrics. "Uh. Now I'm nervous. Why am I nervous?" He chuckled nervously as he messed with his shirt collar. "Alright, here we go." He pressed play and began to sing.
"So," Bob said, taking a deep breath in before letting it out. "What do you think?"
"I think," Melinda said, taking a deep breath herself. "You are amazing. Talent. Amazing" Bob chuckled. "The lyrics. The melody. Your voice. It was just...just beautiful." Bob smiled big. "But," His smile went away. "I think I need tequila now. But you know," She let out a weak chuckle as her eyes started to water. "I threw it all the way because of the" She took another deep breath and let it out as she shook her head to stop the tears from forming. " The baby."
"You know that Amazon package that came in this morning?" Bob said and she replayed with a nod. "I ordered a bunch of Batman outfits for the baby."
"Really?" Melinda said, giving him a weak smile.
"Yeah," Bob said, nodding his head as he looked back up at the ceiling. "There's one outfit that says, I spent 9 months in the batcave. It even came with...this tiny beanie with bat ears on it." He chuckled a bit. "I thought it would be a cute outfit for the baby to come home in, you know."
"Yeah, would have been," Melinda said and snuffed a bit. "It would have been great."
"I even got us a set of family shirts." Bob said, looking back at her. "Mine says player 1 has entered the game, and yours says that too expect it's player 2. And the baby's shirt says that too but of course, player 3." They both smiled at each other. "I thought we could wear those when we play Mario Kart together. Will, while we played and the baby sat on my lap."
"I would love that. I mean, I would have." Melinda said as she rubbed her eyes as tears started coming down. "But you know, that fucking cyst has other plans."
"I know," Bob said, letting out a sigh. "I know." He reached over and started rubbing her thigh. "It's going to be alright though."
"But how does a fucking cyst cause a false positive? Three!" Melinda yelled as she held up three fingers. "Three fucking false positives!"
Bob pulled back his hand as if he had been shocked. He didn't do well with yelling due to the years of hearing his dad yelling. But despite this, he knew this is what Melinda needed. After all, that's why he sang his song to her. Why he kept bringing up the baby and the plans he had. He needed to help her process everything that was happening and finally, have that good cry.
"A cyst," Melinda said, as a few tears slid down her face. "A cyst."
"It's okay, I'm here." Bob said putting his hand back on her thigh and started to rub it. "I'm here."
"I can't believe that cyst, that tiny stupid little fucking cyst on my ovaries caused three false pregnancy tests." Melinda said, shaking her head in disbelief. "And if that wasn't enough, that fucking cyst turned around and ruined my relationship with Tangerine." Melinda chuckled weakly as more tears came down. "A fucking cyst." She laughed a bit more. "And you know what makes this even worse?"
"No." Bob said, shaking his head.
"That day we found out I was pregnant, I was going to make that appointment because we had several openings at my work for the next day. And if I just made the appointment like I was going that day." Melinda said, she scoffed. "We would have found out there was no baby and it was just a damn cyst. I could have got it removed and Tangerine, he would." She covered her face as more tears fell. "He would still be here with me."
"Yeah," Bob said with sadness in his voice. "Yeah he would be."
Only problem with that is, if Tangerine was still here, Bob wouldn't be. Melinda would have never had that panic attack that day and ran into him. They would have never gotten close the way they did. And Bob would still be feeling lost and alone, which he stopped the moment she walked into his life. No telling what would have become of him.
"But if I'm being honest," Melinda said, uncovering her face. "I don't think that would have been a good thing."
"It wouldn't?" Bob said as he was taken back by that comment. "But I thought you were...still in love with Tangerine."
"That's the thing, I don't think I am." Melinda said, taking Bob off guard. "Even if I did make that appointment. It wouldn't have changed how he acted towards me."
"It wouldn't?" Bob asked and she shook her head. "How so?"
"He would have still avoided me till the tests and ultrasound were done. And I don't know how I would feel if he just showed back up and acted like he didn't blow me off when the results came in." Melinda said, feeling angry as the tears kept falling. "Hell, even if he didn't avoid me, he still would have avoided us talking about pregnancy test results. Not to mention he had zero emotions to the results. All he did was excuse himself and stepped into the hallway for a bit, then came back and said he had to leave for work the next day. What kind of man would do that if his girlfriend told him she was pregnant?"
"I wouldn't if you told me you were pregnant with my baby." Bob said and Melinda's head snapped quickly towards him. "I mean." He blushed as he avoided her gaze. "I didn't excuse myself when you told me you were pregnant at the dinner. Is what I meant. Yeah...that's what I meant."
"Yeah," Melinda said, looking away from him and he let out a sigh of relief. "You've been there every step away since I told you. Actually," Melinda looked back over at him as he glanced back up at her. "You've been there for me since day one. Ever since you first met me."
"And I'll always be." Bob said, giving her thigh a squeeze.
"I'm glad because right now," Melinda, said taking a deep breath as she turned her eyes back to the ceiling. "I don't know how to feel. I don't know if I should be relieved that I won't be raising a baby, that one day I would have to tell daddy didn't want to stick around for them. Or should I be torn up that I'm not pregnant. Should I tell Tangerine about this? Should I not bother because he already made his choice." She started to breathe heavily. "I don't know what to do. I don't know Robert. I....I."
That was the first time she used his actual name. This was it. She finally processes the results. Granted, now she has debated whether to tell Tangerine or not. But that could wait for another time. Right now she needs this. She needed this cry so she could let it out. Then it happened, she started to sob heavily. She tried her best to cover her face and muffle her cries.
"Hey. Hey." Bob said, sitting up on his side. "It's okay. It's okay. Just let it out." He removed her hands and started wiping her tears away as they fell. "It's going to be alright." She shook her head and tried to cover up her mouth again. "Hey look at me." Bob took her face in his hands as he pressed his forehead against hers. "You're going to be okay. You hear me? You're going to be okay." She placed her hands on his as she nodded her a bit. "I know this is really fucked up situation. But" He used his forehead to move her head up, so their eyes could meet. "What we need to take from this is this, though it's a cyst and it's on your ovaries, it's not cancerous and it can be removed. Okay?"
"Okay," Melinda said, snuffing a bit and closing her eyes.
"And," Bob said, using his forehead once more to get her to look at him. "And when w..." He paused for a moment. "When you are ready to have kids, you still can. Okay?"
"Okay," Melinda said, nodding her head against his.
"Now," Bob said, smiling at her. "Can you give me a smile?" She shook her head. "No? Hmm, I don't know. I think you can give me a smile." He gave her a bigger smile as she shook head again. "You sure?" She nodded her head. "What if I say, please?" She shook her head, this time making him laugh. "Pretty please, with a cherry on top?"
"The weather outside is..." Alexa started talking.
"Alexa, stop talkinggggg," Bob said, lifting his head up and looking over at the Alexa device. "You know you're being rude right. I'm over here trying to make my pretend wife smile and you're over here trying to tell me it's hot outside. We knowww, we were just out there." Melinda struggled to hold back her laughter. "See, I told you." He looked down at her. "She is possessed. But nooo," He shook his head. "You don't believe me." Melinda giggled a bit as she smiled at him. "There's that smile." His face softened as he eyes fell to her lips. "I love ....that smile."
He traced her bottom lip with his thumb. He started to mumble to himself, about her smile. He moved in quickly to her lips but stopped short of touching them and he pulled back just as quickly. His eyes looked up to Melinda's seeking for permission. She gave it to him by closing her eyes and slightly leaning forward. Bob closed his eyes and leaned his head forward. His lips lightly brush against hers when Alexa goes off again. He let out a huff as he turned his head away in annoyance.
Bob gently let Melinda go and rolled to his other side. He then reached out and unplugged Alexa. He laid back on his back and let out a sigh of defeat. He already knew the moment was gone, along with his confidence. Now, they will just sit in awkward silence till one of them breaks it.
"So" Melinda said and Bob let out a sigh of relief that the silence didn't last long. "When did I become your wife?"
"Oh that?" Bob said, and they both sat up. "It happened when you fell asleep on the drive home last night. Yeah, I just pulled into one of those all night-chapels."
"Oh? Do they have those here?" Melinda said, wanting to hear what he came up with.
"Yeah," Bob said, nodding his head as he started biting lip. "When I pulled up, I grabbed the priest and said, you see this woman that's in a food coma in the front seat. " Melinda laughed. "That is the future Ms. Reynolds and I want to marry her right now. And just like that." He snapped his fingers. "Married."
"Just like that?" Melinda said as she snapped her fingers.
"Yeah," Bob said, nodding his head fast and making Melinda laugh again. "So," He leaned onto his side and placed his hand once again on her thigh. "Are you feeling better?"
"Yeah," Melinda said, looking down as she nodded. "Thank you."
"Hey," Bob said and she looked over at him. "As your husband, that's part of the job, being here for you." She gave him a soft smile. "Speaking of husband duties. I heard a happy wife makes a happy life. So how about this?" He padded her thigh. "Won't you go wash up and get into your most comfortable pj's. And I'll make some popcorn and some other snacks. And a couple of drinks. Then we will sit down and watch some Supernatural. How does that sound wife?"
"Sounds good," Melinda said, giving him a big smile. "Husband."
"Good, we got a plan" Bob said, smiled as he squeezed her thigh before removing his hand. "Now go wash up."
As Melinda got up, Bob admired her curves and the way her hips swayed as she walked. He kept his eyes on her till she walked into the bedroom and closed the door behind her. As soon as he heard the lock, he rolled over to his back and started punching and kicking the air in frustration over Alexa ruining their first kiss. He grunted and let out a big huff as his limbs flapped back to the floor.
"Okay," Bob said, taking a deep breath and letting it out. "I feel better."
Bob got up and started gathering everything up. When Melinda came out she went to her usual spot on the couch and curled up under her blanket. Bob brought the stuff over and sat them on the coffee table. Then he took his spot at the other end of the couch. He reached down, grabbing Melinda's legs and placing them on his, like he normally did so she could be more comfortable.
Melinda press played and focused on the TV, while Bob focused on her. He was watching her as he leaned into his hand. His index finger tracing his lip and remembering their kiss. If you could call it that. Though their lips barely met, he could still feel her lips against his. He could even taste the sweetest that came off of them. Then his mind wondered if they weren't interrupted, how far would they have gone?
Though Bob has gotten more comfortable around Melinda in the past few months they have spent time together. He still felt nervous about being more intimate with her. And it's not like he hasn't been intimated before. He had his fair share of lovers, but that was when he was either drunk or high or both. That's what gave him confidence to pursue a woman. Now, he was worrying that he would fobble in the bedroom with Melinda. If he could even get that far with her that is.
Bob's concentration broke when Melinda stretched out her legs. He could see her eyes getting heavy. He was about to offer to leave so she could rest, but she moved to his side of the couch. She laid her head against his chest and wrapped one of her arms around him. Then she moved her head up and down to get comfortable.
"I hope this is alright?" Melinda asked, she could feel him tense up a bit. "I can move back over if you like."
"No," Bob said, regretting saying it so fast and slightly loud. "I mean," He cleared his throat. "No, it's alright." He placed his arms around her and she looked up at him. Not knowing what to say when he looked back down at her, just smiled and said. "Hi."
"Hi," Melinda said, smiling.
Their smiles faded when they both glanced at each other's lips. Slowly, they leaned in closer and pressed their lips against one another. Bob let out a soft groan against her lips as they firmly pressed together. Finally. It started off slow and sweet, but soon picked up the pace. He deepened the kiss by placing his hand on the back of her head. His hands tangled in her hair as he wrapped his other arm around her waist.
"Come here," Bob whispered against her lips. "Now"
There it was, confidence. He pulled Melinda onto his lap so she could straddle him. Bob started pulling at her clothes, demanding for them to come off as his hunger grew while he kissed her neck. He let out another groan as she moved her hips, grinning against him. He grabbed her shirt tight and pulled it, tiring it open. Melinda gasped as he buried his face in her chest.
With one arm around her waist, Bob shifted them around. He placed Melinda on her back as he took her lips for a second before pulling away. He took off his shirt as Melinda helped undo his pants. Bob stood up and removed the rest of his clothes. He reached down and started helping Melinda remove the rest of hers.
Once they were both stripped, Bob let out a low growl in his throat as he climbed back onto her. He grabbed her thighs and pulled her closer to him. He looked at her lips again, this time kissing her hard and making her moan. Bob tightened his grip on her thighs as he positioned himself to enter her. Then, his head slipped from his hand.
"What? " Bob said, jolting his head back up. "What?" He rubbed his eyes and took a look around. He saw the TV screen was on the usual Netflix message after watching several episodes. "Wait, weren't we just..." He looked over to see Melinda wrapped up in her blanket and fast asleep on her side of the couch. "Seriously?" He grabbed the remote and hit *do not ask me again* option. He crossed his arms and threw his head back. "This is some bullshit". He closed his eyes, hoping to go back to where he left off.
