hi i was wondering if u have any noise or industrial recs by people of color ? would love to see more of the scene !
Hmm OK.
Well first off East Asia in general and Japan specifically has a pretty strong tradition of Industrial and Noise and listing everything here would take forever.
It is pretty easy to research that on your own. But if you need a good start lookiup Merzbow and see who he has collaborated with. As a bonus by the time you are 1/3rd of the way through his discography your own collaboration with him should be coming out.
Also go to @womenofnoise they use the hashtags #poc of noise #woc in noise #woc in industrial music (I'll put all tags at the bottom so you can click on them) that'll give you plenty of artist to choose from
Now on to the suggestions
There is newer stuff like Death Grips and h9rr9r I'm personally not crazy about but you may feel differently.
As far as stuff I like I am older so I am partial to groups like Tackhead and The Beatnigs
And as for newer artist here are a few. Some are noise, experimental industrial, post industrial or whatever. Just so you know I'm taking a broad approach to this. If you personally want to waste your own time complaining about if something is industrial or not to someone who doesn't give a fuck then my DMs are open.
First lets start in my home town with Moor Mother/Black Quantum Futurism.
I am fan of the label Nyge Nyge Tapes out of Uganda. They offer a broad selection of musical styles.
But my favorite has been the Metal/Industrial/Breakcore of Duma
And the Indonesian duo Raja Kirik
I am also really into Makossiri who they recently signed
Ratskin Records out of Oakland has some good new style artists that need to settle in on a genre name.
Golden Champagne Flavored Sweatshirt is good.
Lexagon is also good. Not noise. Not Industrial. But very very good.
Tunisian Post Industrial band Ifriqiyya Electrique
Cedrik Fermont AKA C-rik has been a promotor and curator of POC music and as well as a musician himself he is one half of the experimental industrial group Axiome
And finally my friend who goes by the name tarahrest put out her first drone noise record
Ok I'm running out of steam and this list is in no way definitive and to get honest it is a bit more experimental than straight up industrial.
What can you do?
