“Lex!” Malcolm opened his arms, offering her a hug. “It’s so great to see you.” It had been years since he had seen her, so while he still thought of her as that brave kid, she was a grown woman now and he didn’t want to embarrass her. 

“I’ve been following your work. You’re such an amazing writer.” He paused, not sure whether to wait to tell her why he was really here to see her. “Working on anything interesting right now?” Yeah, that was better. He did want to hear about her life.

Alice lingered in the hallway as class was dismissed, standing on her tip toes as she scanned the group of students for the blonde haired girl she had been assigned to parent the, well, robot baby in her arm. “Ah, Lex!” she called out hesitantly as thought she spotted the other girl out and headed over, the back of her flats slipping on and off and making a loud clacking noise. That was one way to signal her arrival.
