The grubs are still in the main block, playing around with the cats. They’re having a good time, you can hear them squealing and laughing, but you still keep an ear out for them and keep the loud sobbing to a minimum. The last thing you want is for them to hear you and come into the respiteblock to check on you, they don’t need to see you like this.
It only takes Ley a couple minutes to get to you, and you assume the knocking on the door means that she’s sufficiently checked up on the grubs. You pause for a moment, both to even your breathing a little and to listen again. The laughing and little sounds of grub joy are still coming from the block, so you slowly pick yourself up off the cold ground. It takes you a moment to gain enough energy to push yourself off the ground, and once you do you unlock the door and immediately let yourself melt into Ley’s arms.
