I am a firm believer that we need to bring back Polari.

I so enjoy sprinkling in the fact that I am gay.

update on the LGBT interlanguage

as some of you know, i've spent the last few years developing and discussing with people a conlang (constructed language) meant specifically for use among LGBT folks. a few months ago, i began distributing rough information on it to a small number of people. about 1 month ago, i did a revision of the language (some sound adjustments, vocabulary and grammar shifts, and added vocabulary).

at present, there is a Discord server with lots of educational materials for the language, and about 12 members (about 1/2 of which are frequently active). there is also a very very small Telegram group. only a couple people aside from myself can use (write/read) it with some confidence, and many are still at the very beginning stages of learning to use it. a couple of people are wanting to begin speaking practice (facilitated via Discord).

what i would like at this stage is to share it with more people. because it is meant for LGBT people, it's not as straightforward as simply posting it just anywhere. all the learning materials are 100% free (this is a product of love by a few other LGBT linguists and myself), and are available if you talk to me about it and express interest in learning it (& are LGBT of course).

here are the resources you can request (via DMs or Ask):

· the 19 page grammar introduction, which also includes a dictionary into english (in searchable PDF format) and the Braille-informed writing system

· a document of sentences parsed using various methods as an (advanced) aid for understanding the grammar if it's still confusing

· the Discord server, which has all of the above available, in addition to:

 - voice chat channels for verbally asking questions, and for practice speaking

 - a dictionary bot which also has commands for grammar help

 - a (hopefully!) growing community of speakers

· direct help from me: i'm always willing to answer questions as soon as i can get to them - i'm always happy to help, and what i want most is for LGBT people to be able to use and enjoy this language

some other ongoing projects by current users/learners of the language:

· poetry & song translations

· math & science translations

· lesson workbooks (in a few different languages)

· music recorded in the language

· a tumblr blog of memes & humor in the language

Is there a standard term, or list of commonly used terms, to use as a replacement for “man” or “woman” for nonbinary genders, eg “I’m a bigender man” becomes...?
