Woosung isn’t completely sure if he’s ready to audition for a role this big, but he also knows he has nothing to lose if he does go ahead with it. He’s going by his mantra that you miss all the shots you don’t take. If he gets a role, that’s awesome and he has some steady work for a while. If not, it’s shame, but at least he’ll have the experience to look back on.

Either way, he’s looking forward to the whole thing more than he thought he would.

The only hard thing had been trying to come up with an original character for this audition. While Woosung is relatively creative (if he may say so!), that creativity lies more in the region of music rather in anything literature or writing. And he’s a journalism student.

Well, the writing for journalism is a lot different to any kind of creative writing, to be honest.

Eventually. though, he’d managed to write up what he hoped was a viable character after taking inspiration from what he’d seen back in high school and it’s these notes he’s re-reading when his name rings out though the corridor he’s waiting in.

“Han Woosung?”

“Coming!”

Now he’s a little nervous, but in all honesty, it would be strange if he wasn’t. Wiping his palms on his jeans and tucking his outline into his bag, Woosung enters the room where the production crew are waiting for his pitch. He offers them a bow and smile before taking his seat.

“Hello, my name is Han Woosung, 22 years old. I’m here to audition for a supporting role Cram School 2.”

For a moment he wonders what they must think of someone his age auditioning for a role in a High School based drama, but dismisses it instantly. After all, how old were the actors who had participated in High School Musical when it first came out?

“My character is a repeat student, aged 18.” he begins. Woosung knows this is  a risky stance to take, but the fact that the crew hasn’t shut him down instantly is promising, at least. “Though it’s not due to a lack of academic ability. Rather, he had gotten the university place he had aimed for, but it wasn’t the major he’d wanted. So he didn’t take up his place in university and opted to re-take the CSAT once again, this time with the goal for achieving the major he wants.” he pauses to take a breath.

“This student acts self-assured and confident because of his previous experience, but it’s a front. In fact, he’s a very withdrawn and quiet person when he’s alone. He doesn’t get on with his parents because he defied their wishes to do the major they had chosen for him, so he hides this sadness and resentment with a cocky attitude. He also is actually quite kind and helpful to those who are struggling, but he doesn’t like it to be known and will deny it loudly if someone tries to point out his more positive traits. However, he eventually lets himself open up and become friends with other students and reveals his good true personality.”

It’s a bit of an awkward place to finish, but there’s not much more to say. Instead he bows his head with a smile and thanks the production team for their time before taking his leave, his heart hammering in a good way.

Whether or not he’s offered a part, Woosung feels that he presented himself well and hopefully made some kind of good impression. All that’s left to do is wait.

-ˏˋ CRAM SCHOOL AUDITION : GUEST ROLE ! 

this is it. her first audition for a drama has finally arrived and jungah can’t possibly be more excited. she greets the staff when she enters the room, bows respectfully and takes a seat when she’s instructed to. acting may not be her first choice of career, but it never hurts to try out something new, she thinks as she sits down, eyes each of the staff members once before she proceeds with her introduction.

“my name is choi jungah, i’m twenty-two years old and i’m here to audition for a guest room in the new season of cram school.” she says, announces, picture perfect smile resting on pillowy lips. confidence reeks from her timbre, though it’s soft around the edges, welcoming and warm, nowhere near intimidating or haughty. jungah is aware of her strengths and her weaknesses, and while acting is not be her biggest strength, yet, she has a certain talent for slipping into different roles. it’s all she’s been doing for the most part of her life, after all.

a folder with ideas she’s jotted down is handed to the man sitting beside her. “the character i was thinking of is a new addition to the cast, perhaps a childhood friend or just a friend of one of the main or support cast members. she comes from a middle-class family but has always dreamed of being part of the rich kids club, has always tried everything to fit in and molded herself in ways that’d make her appear as though she comes from wealth, when she isn’t.” she explains, allows ring-clad fingers to intertwine and rest upon the surface of the table. “no one really knows who she is because she makes herself appear as someone she’s not, and her secret is something she guards with all her might.”

that’s enough, isn’t it? for nothing but a guest role, jungah supposes, not too much background story is inquired. but she hopes her idea has sparked a certain interest and that she will be able to allow herself to grow as a person and an actor by being given this opportunity. she thanks them for the time, bows yet again and leaves the room.
