Hey, long time! Hope all is well. I was just wondering what Subclass you think would be best for an Enchanter? I keep trying to read up on them on the Wikia, but it's freezing my laptop all the time.
I’ll infer that this is a more practical/battle-focused character that’s focusing on enhancing Enchanter strengths or make up for their weaknesses. The subclasses I get are taken from my Subclasses Doc since the Wiki isn’t close to being up-to-date.
The Believer/Occult Doubler subclass may have potential here. It can provide the user with basic (and only basic) skills from other subclasses and classes (like Healing skills). However, the number of skills that you can learn are limited, casting time can increase from 5-10x, and cooldown time can increase 2-4x. For most, it’s terribly impractical, but Enchanters have the benefit of having a large mana supply and rather small MP costs for their skills, so they could probably use their skill, which reduces casting time and cooldown time and is only limited by MP and casting time (so you could probably keep it active for a while before having to recast it). also amplifies one’s own magic, so it can buff an Enchanter’s attacks. Considering how Enchanter attack spells are pathetically weak, it may come in handy to use skills from another class/subclass and then buff that up.
Commander is known to be a good subclass for strengthening and supporting allies in large-scale battles, but it provides no self-buffs so it’s not good for solo players (not that Enchanters would really want to be stuck in that spot anyways). Enchanters, being support units to begin with, would probably benefit from this subclass by adding more support skills to their repertoire.
Idol, surprisingly, may come in handy, particularly at high levels. Along with skills from the Dancer, Diva, and Musician subclasses, you also get skills like , which increases the Crit, Evasion, and Accuracy of one target for 30 minutes (although it can only be used once per raid). It’s also good for negotiating with NPCs and the like.
The Hitman subclass adds to the list of debuffing skills, so for Enchanters like Nureha whose builds focus around debuffing/freezing enemies, it would be a good choice. Like the Idol, it also provides boosts to negotiations.
If you’re feeling really bold and are willing to walk around without any protective gear, Nudist might work. It grants some self-buffs ... and some debuffs that affect both enemies and allies. Most people don’t pick it for all its demerits (i.e. making a squishy Enchanter even squishier).
Rune Knight seems to be another buffing/self-buffing subclass, but we don’t really know anything about it. Same goes for Sigilmancer and Talismancer.
The Tactician subclass could be a good choice if your character’s in a large guild. It probably is the back-row version of the Commander subclass.
A person with the Sprinkler build (turn your attacks into a bullet hell game) could benefit from the Wand Fighter subclass, which buffs skills by cutting down casting times and hitting enemies twice. Top that with the Enchanter’s and and you’ll have a moderately decent glass cannon.
I didn’t add any of the Special Title subclasses because ~special snowflake~ (which is the same reason I dislike it when people feel the need to give their OCs Overskills, but I digress). But feel free to look at them on the doc if you wish.
