College of Secrets | Collect secrets instead of pretending to
PDFs of this and more can be found over on at my Patreon here!
I release everything for free, so your support makes this possible.
I've also started making a new system based off of 5e, 6th Dawn! Become a patron and join the playtest.
So, the whispers bard (in name at least) is evocative as fuck. So of course, I need my own version if I want to do anything with it, so here we are. This was basically designed after how a player in a game that finished the week I was making this played their Whispers bard as a collector (but admittedly not sharer) of secrets. He did have a couple of grumbles with the Whispers bard, and how he couldn't use a lot of his features because humanoid, so I did my own spin. Also since the whispers bard seems to more be fear and paranoia with secrets as a light flavour at the end. Not even the shadow/persona theft feature gives you secrets.
So, the Whispers bard's version of this is basically a smite that scales with level. Which is neat, but this isn't the swords bard. It doesn't need to get into combat. So this is a bit stronger. I was looking at the old paladin and felt a bit inspired.
Speaking of. One thing that I have been trying for a while is to get ways to regain inspo (Well, in 6th Dawn it would be "more ways" since there's already some there) that are appropriate to each subclass.
Another sneak peek at the 6D bard, is of course its bardic performances, which will also have occasional subclass specific ones. This one was in part inspired by the aforementioned bard having very few times where the basic Words of Terror feature was even valid. Getting solo with a character that needs to be frightened AND is humanoid out of combat is a bit slim. So this one is more versatile at a cost.
If your objective is to collect secrets, where better to find one than their own head. While this month is essentially the psychic theme, I didn't want yet another telepath, so just the spell will do, with a buff.
I don't know why but the dream spell also seemed like a good flavourful option for this kind of thing, but its backwards. So instead stepping inside a dream or a memory seemed more appropriate.
And now to plug my stuff. I release homebrews weekly over on my Patreon.
Anyone who pledges $2 or more per post don't have to wait a month to see them, and also help fund my being alive habit.
