Boots (Series) Ramble:
As a consumer of many queer shows and movies, I honestly love how refreshing Boots is all together. With obvious understanding that it is all based on the real life of Greg white; I want to praise that the writers for the show or Netflix execs themselves didn't push for any obvious cliches. So much of Cameron's experience as a gay teen transcends time as I personally relate to how much he feels from when I was a teen myself. Also they could've easily changed details to imply the easy cliche of "closet gay kid is in love with his only friend that is straight and is also the only person that knows he's gay". Which a girl loves that trope don't get me wrong, but it's beautiful and so impactful to see a straight male character on a show just easily accept that his friend is gay.
Ray doesn't even think of Cameron's identity outside of when it's supposed to be the topic of conversation. Yet he still has his flaws, he isn't the perfect ally to him which is so realistic for the time it was and for them being teens. Plus in all honesty even some of the missteps Ray does in that aspect are still things people do now. I just really adore their friendship is all.
