Ok guys, the dumpster scene again...
This is what Sullivan looks like, when he got the situation under control and everything went as he expected it. He looks stern, even angry, controlled, in charge.
Then Cam confronts him with his own words ("the drill instructor told this recruit he didn't belong here!") with Cam giving Sullivan contra for the first time ever.
Sullivan starts realizing he may have been too hard on Cam, almost succeeding in driving him away, what his initial goal was...but now he's starting to realize Cam could make it and he could actually help Cam make it, be the mentor that Sullivan himself never had... The moment he starts thinking, realizing, his expression softens, he drops his stern gaze from Cam:
And as soon as the thought, the idea of really helping Cam sinks in and he realizes their parallels (Cam wanting to become a Marine, Sullivan wanting to stay a Marine), his feelings seem to overwhelm him a little and he goes on talking to Cam but also to himself ("What kind of man do you wanna be?")
The emotional range in this scene is incredible and it's so fucking well delivered and I love how the change is visible on Sullivan's face and how intense and physical that scene is! <333
And never forget: "Claim your fucking place!" <3
