Layla Halloway is a first year in Échange Palace and Alyssa's childhood best friend. They were raised in an orphanage in the Sunshine Lands since they were babies. They have done everything together since they were little and are inseparable.
Layla is the more outspoken of the two. She is the first to approach others and makes friends easily. She is also hotheaded at times and can be very vocal about what she doesn't like. Alyssa often has to calm her down and is the voice of reason.
When the two first applied for the scholarship at PHA, they knew that they were up against each other. They were both surprised when they were both chosen since their papers were so similar. Headmistress Quinn decided to let them both attend and split the scholarship between them.
