We have to bear in mind that people who have left "extremist" views are often those who are always anxious about things privileged liberals would seldom complain about: food, shelter, employment, healthcare, efficient transportation, or anything that provides enjoyment in life. Their "aggressiveness' is due to the fact that it's a life-or-death situation for them.
It's just sad that those who profess the same advocacies think that radicalism will never win anything, when it already did. Most of the rights we enjoy now (like suffrage and eight-hour workday) were won by social movements that are deemed much, much radical by the standards of today.
I wish this mentality would go away because this would isolate them, especially in the present political climate.
