liberty looked at her watch and then back at melina. "you're right, this is not fair to you. i know, and i am really sorry that i... haven't come out. maybe... look, maybe we can tell some of your friends? you know, that you have a group of people to talk to." she offered, something she hadn't felt comfortable with before. they could leak it - easily. "but i'm not ready to... tell my family or the world. that... that i can do. would that be okay? for now?" she wondered, hoping to appease the woman before she went. she didn't want to part with a fight.

liberty froze at the last statement. the rest she'd heard before was an ongoing kind of thing in their relationship, but iris now hit the nail on the head painfully, and her biggest weakness was exposed. being called out was hard to take. she turned to iris and lowered her hands, the rush of needing to get to that gathering dissipated. it was as if she deflated. "you're right." she spoke oh, so softly. "i... i am scared." she admitted and looked up at iris. "i'm a coward." she added and then hung her head somewhat, feeling a wave of shame flood over her that she hadn't felt before. she let the woman she adored suffer because she was afraid. it was an ugly truth to her, once she had buried under years of saying to herself that it was her choice and that she didn't need to come out if she didn't want to, that she had every reason not to.

liberty looked at zara and she too missed being out in public with her, even though that terrified her as well. "babe, i... do we really need to have this discussion right now?" she wondered as her mind was still preoccupied with having to leave soon. she couldn't be late, her father would be so angry. "i know that you want more, and i do too. i really do. let's... can we... just postpone this conversation?" she wondered, not really sure whether she wanted to ever finish this conversation. she wasn't sure she could give zara what she deserved, she was terrified of her life imploding...

liberty looked at elena and rolled her eyes. "no, i don't... i am not lying. i really do like her." she told elena, talking about her newest girlfriend. she was just trying to get this crush on her best friend out of her head. elena wasn't interested in her, otherwise, something would have happened in the decades they've been friends. "she's a little... bubbly and possibly not... the sharpest tool in the box but i find her... interesting." she spoke and hated how she was the least convincing liar ever. it was surprising how bad she was at bending the truth in her personal life for a political aid.
