I see a lot of talk about Libby the library app but I wanna talk about its companion, hoopla. It's mostly advertised in my library for movies and shows, but let me tell you. The same library on hoopla gives me access to so very very many more audiobooks and ebooks, especially in languages other than English, than I can even see exist on the Libby app. Harry Potter y la piedra filosofal? Audio and ebook, along with the rest of the series. I was listening to the warriors series (not on my Libby) until I became too distressed and had to remember that I read for fun. I just skimmed through the amigurumi and crochet terms and I am blown away. 3 results for amigurumi on Libby. Fucking...over 40 on hoopla, many in languages that I cannot read. Libby is great, I love it, but hoopla deserves love too.
Library apps.
Why.
Why are there limited copies of an ebook.
Why do I need to get on a waitlist for a book that's not even physical.
Why is it 18 people long.
Was the library app you're thinking of Hoopla? Or maybe Libby? Those are where my local library hosts audiobooks!
oh!! thank you so much for suggesting these! I figured it out, it was Overdrive :) i'll look into these, though! I remember Overdrive didn't always have everything i wanted to listen to
Seeing a lot of eBook discourse on my dash tonight, and that’s making me curious. I’m getting a lot of use out of a lending library app, but it requires a monthly subscription fee.
What non-subscription library apps do y’all use?
If there’s a free service (even one that’s ad-supported) that has the stuff I’m looking for, then I may just switch.
