Oberlin College Library is having a Book Spine Poetry contest in honor of National Poetry Month in April! Stack up your own books or library books to make a poem out of the titles on the spines. Submit entries on Twitter (tweet to us @ObieLib), Insragram (use #OCbookspine2016) or email [email protected]. Submissions will be accepted until Aprill 22nd and the winners will be announced the week of April 25th. Good luck!
2016 Bookmark Contest Winners
The results are in, and the entries above are the winners of our annual Fully Booked bookmark competition. Students from across the school entered; winners were chosen from (top to bottom) Early Years, Key Stage 1, Key Stage 2, and Key Stage 3. The winning entries will be printed and made available in the library next term. The form we used for entries is available here.
February 1, 2015, is the first day to submit entries to the Southern Oaks Library Fan-Fiction Fan-Art contest. Fan art may be any medium and contain original characters, but must contain copyrighted characters as the main theme. Similar rules apply to fan fiction. The last day to submit your work is Sunday, March 15 at 6:00pm, 2015. The announcement party is at Southern Oaks Library, 6900 S Walker Ave. OKC 73139 on Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 1:30 to 3:30p.m.

August has rolled its lovely, lazy head around, which, for some of us, turns a little switch, and those fall thoughts start creeping in -- can't help it, not sure if we like it, but try as we might, we're planning. The urge to prepare for back-to-school fun starts nudging its way into our consciousness, and so the gears start turning: "What's going on? What are we going to do?"
What's sure to be exciting at your school or library this fall? Teen Read Week, of course! October 14-20 is the time to drum up some spooky fun and show teens all the treasures lurking in your library. We know how much fun you're going to have have sharing It Came from the Library with teens and their families. Starting today, we want to hear from you!
Tell us about all the cool things you've done or are going to do, and your responses will be considered by YALSA for inclusion in next year's TRW Manual. We're going to run a contest on Twitter and Facebook, with a different downloadable prize for each randomly chosen winner.
