Unmask! Teen Post-it art!
This summer is all about Unmasking hidden talents here at SLPL! First workshop: designing, creating, and sticking with Post-it art Murals! See some of the amazing murals below!
Graph paper (I printed off something online)
Post-its (I bought WAAAY too much...I would say about 10 Post-it pads per mural. Unless they are going really crazy with folding)
Bulletin board paper rolls
Give each group a piece of graph paper. Explain your rules (I said no cutting the Post-its, but I was okay with them folding). Have them draw out their idea. This will be used as a template to transfer onto the big paper.
I had a laptop that the teens could use as a reference for their drawings. A lot of them used their phones.
Cut off long pieces of the bulletin board paper
Have the teens transfer their vision onto the paper. In some cases one square on the graph paper will equal 1 Post-it, it all depends on how big they are blowing it up.
Double sided tape was used as needed to make sure things (especially heavy folded Post-its) stayed in place.
Tell me the nitty-gritty Loryn:
Hardest part was getting the Post-it murals out to my Teen Corner to hang them. They really can’t be rolled or folded, definitely have the teens help carry them afterwards. Or, if you are able, create at or near where they will be hung. Be ready with double sided tape to fix any loose Post-its.
