So apparently the yearbook team/students get to choose a staff member to photograph and/or “interview” for it and I’ve been chosen 5 times for some reason. I was wondering why the photography/yearbook teacher kept sending students to take my picture when we’ve already taken staff pics and I got the answer today 😂. I’m flattered tho 🥰😂😂. I also now have two art students who are drawing me for a project 💙. Before I started, I was worried if the students would like me or not but apparently I don’t have to worry about that because I’ve made an impression and now I can’t get rid of them. I had to write hall passes because we started talking about @marvel and we went overboard 🤦🏾♀️😂😂😂. I think they like me!! #librarystaff #highschoollibrary #highschoollibrarian #marvelfans #marvelfan #ilovemystudents https://www.instagram.com/p/CUYrIJqrXwj/?utm_medium=tumblr
Happy #DayintheLife Monday! This week, let's take a look behind the scenes in A Day in the Life of the Collections Department as they add new materials to the collection! #ADayInTheLifeAtOLS Our Libraries order books through a vendor contract and eagerly wait for unboxing days. As they unpack the boxes, our #collectionstaff organizes them onto carts to see everything that is part of that shipment (which sometimes spans over several boxes). Then they verify everything they see against their packing lists to ensure no titles are missing. (And if we see something especially exciting, we share a sneak peek in our social stories. 😉) Once everything is accounted for, the scanning process begins! Through our contract, the books come pre-programmed with their records, but we double check them as we scan to ensure no adjustments are needed. And then it's off into our red courier boxes to fill the shelves at your local branch! #osceolalibrary #librarystaff #librariesofinstagram #collectiondept #newbooks https://www.instagram.com/p/CNkjtoIhLs7/?igshid=2zmjs95g0g46

One of the things I *love* about working in different libraries, as I do these days, is getting to talk about books with staff I don’t know well, who read lots more than I do. I even get to hear about books I’d never read, which sometimes boggles my mind (though I love all the titles mentioned in this comic).

This is also the first Library Comic strip drawn by my friend, the fabulous Willow Payne. Willow and I have been working together for years -- she used to draw Unshelved Book Club comics, and is currently drawing our graphic novel The Burning Blade of Fire @barbariangirlcomics plus a few other project we have in the works. Please help me welcome her to the team.
