“Violence is not something that advertises itself. It is not written on my face - he is too careful for that, of course, aiming his fists at my body. As long as a woman cannot speak, as long as those to whom she speaks do not listen, the violence is unending.” • • Reading this book was quite an experience - an uncomfortable yet important one. I wasn’t expecting it to be such philosophical but I’m not mad about it. Kandasamy’s account of domestic violence is raw and unapologetic and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Domestic violence is not something to be sugar-coated. In short, this was incredible and I enjoyed it very much - even though ‘enjoy’ is maybe not the right word to be paired with this subject matter. • This is the last book I have to read for the Women’s Prize for fiction and I think it is a very worthy winner but I’ll be happy if either Sing, Unburied, Sing or Home Fire take the prize home. • • What are you currently reading? Sé que me repito pero es que hoy me da calor hasta el iPad… 🥵🥵🥵 La semana pasada terminé La casa en el mar más azul de @tjklunebooks y tengo que deciros que es uno de los libros más bonitos y dulces que he leído este año. 🥰 Una historia sobre amar sin prejuicios, sobre olvidar lo que te dicen y aceptar lo que sientes. Sobre evitar los prejuicios y crearte tus propias opiniones basadas en lo que conoces. Los personajes se quedan contigo y te dejan el corazón blandito 😍 Luchad siempre por lo que consideréis justo aunque no se ajuste a lo que esperan de vosotr@s.
