You are not my King! This is not your land! You committed genocide against out people. Senator Lidia Thorpe to Charles
Lidia Thorpe: “I stand in solidarity with my brothers and sisters in Lebanon, and the Lebanese community in this country whose homeland is under attack by Israel.”
King Charles heckled by Senator Lidia Thorpe in Parliament house while visiting Australia.
The way parliament has been treating Lidia Thorpe really shows how meaningless respectability politics are, like we're literally acting concerned over the feelings of Australia's most famous bigot just to shut down serious conversations on systemic racism
Like for fuck's sake she was literally sticking up for another senator who was being questioned on her legality as a citizen just because she's Muslim and not born in Australia, and the Senate acts like SHE is the villain????
People can say she should be nicer and civil all they want, but that's the thing about racism and sexism - no matter how nice and polite you act, what you say is going to be disregarded no matter what.
On one hand, I’m glad that Temu Trump lost not just the election, but also his seat.
On the other hand, the Albanese government is still complicit in the genocide of Palestinians and has approved over 30 coal and gas projects over the last three years. To make matters worse, we’re still in a Labor majority government, and we lost at least two Greens MPs to Labor.
Not to mention that First Nations people don’t seem to be Labor’s priority either. They, along with the Coalition, voted against Lidia Thorpe’s UNDRIP bill, for fuck’s sake, and both major parties censured her for protesting against the King.
