Side is getting married for her dad before he dies/goes to jail and Bu Fan interrupts the wedding
Si De, ridden with guilt & grief over her father’s “cancer diagnosis” agrees to his last wish: to see her married before he passes. His choice is a stoic business colleague ten years her senior who, although he seems pleased with her beauty, makes her heart cold. Still, she can’t bring herself to reject her father’s request. She announces her impending marriage to the other teachers, sadly confessing that after they are wed, her new husband will be taking her to live in France where he has business dealings, and she will not be able to continue teaching.
Yan is wailing over his shortening list of teachers when Qiang Da finds him, and he tells the math professor of Si De’s troubles. Qiang Da in turn tells Qiang Wei, who is upset by the news. They agree not to tell Bu Fan, as Qiang Wei is confident she can convince Si De not to go through with it. Qiang Da says he will keep working on the murder case in the meantime. Qiang Wei shows up at Si De’s apartment with a wedding present (a recipe book to help her not poison her new spouse), and tries to reason with her not to marry someone she does not love who will take her far away. Si De tearfully confesses her guilt over what has happened to Qiang Wei’s family, and asks her to leave, as she is getting married that night and has to prepare.
Qiang Wei goes, but runs into Bu Fan, who has noticed Si De seemed unwell and and was bringing her some soup. Si De refuses to open her door to Bu Fan, devastated at the notion of having to tell the man she likes that she is marrying someone else that evening. Qiang Wei, desperate, tells Qiang Da they must crash the wedding, but he thinks it’s a bad idea. As they argue, Bu Fan interrupts them and asks whose wedding they are fighting about. They look at each other guiltily before telling him.
Si De and her fiancé are at the altar, her father smirking from a wheelchair and handcuffs in the front row while Qiang Wei and Qiang Da sit uncomfortably behind him. Scenes of the ceremony alternate with scenes of Ah Fei recklessly driving through the streets, Bu Fan hanging out the car window with a bullhorn screaming “STOP THE WEDDING! STOP THE WEDDING!” Qiang Da whispers to Qiang Wei that Bu Fan should have been here by now, but he must be in traffic.
The minister asks if anyone objects to the union, and Qiang Wei stands up in a panic, dragging Qiang Da with her. Not knowing what else to do, Qiang Da starts to ramble about the mathematical improbability of Si De and her husband ever having a truly happy marriage until he is interrupted by Bu Fan storming his way into the room. Si De’s father orders his bodyguard to get Bu Fan out but Ah Fei tackles the man, allowing Bu Fan to reach Si De at the altar. Bu Fan confesses his love for her and tells her that if she must marry, then marry him instead. She says she has caused him too much pain and cannot bear the guilt, but he hugs her and she realizes she loves him. The whole affair is then interrupted by her father trying to abscond and they all run after him and the rest of the show’s plot (with the Chief and the murder) continues
