There’s one more page Thursday, and that’ll be it for 2019: I’ll be taking a few weeks off for a holiday break and to work on a few projects!

It’ll be the comic’s first break since... June? Not bad, I think. o(￣▽￣)ｄ

The irony here is that Carmine Pentella is just old enough to apply to become a SeeD cadet. Then again, there are still a couple of years of training before one can take the exams and enter the field, so never mind. More to Ultimecia’s point, Carmine is no soldier.

Meanwhile, these SeeDs are experienced members who would be too old to even apply at this point. We’ve seen them use paramagic so we know they’re junctioned to guardian forces, as well. Seems like heavy firepower to deal with a young fledgling sorceress, yes? Perhaps their intel was bad? That’s certainly one possibility...

But don’t forget why SeeDs are out here to begin with.
