Today is just one of those days where I really don't want to be seen. By anyone.
My mother just shrieked in the backyard...She shouted my name and I rushed to see what was wrong. I thought perhaps she had happened upon a snake, or maybe one of the pets had killed a bird...
No...no...the dog had chewed a crappy hairband my mother had given me because she didn't want it...
I freaking thought something was seriously wrong...:I
*whispers into the wind* I achieved nothing today...
I want to go to bed...but I still haven't made up my bed after washing my sheets today...
Sabrajay had a play around with my hair. Curly...
Life. Is. Average.
So last night I slept at a friend's house and now I don't know if her family likes me anymore... xD I just feel like I say the completely wrong things... Anyway. I don't really have much to say anymore.. Life is average.
Thank you to both people who answered me that was very helpful! And I was wondering if you could help me set up this problem into a system of equations as well? “A boat can travel 24 mi in 3 h when traveling with a curent. Against the same current, it can travel only 16 mi in 4 h. Find the rate of the current and the rate of the boat in still water.” Thanks again! c:

Noo problem!
This question is largely conceptual.
First of all, we want to get the speed in mi/hr of the boat when traveling towards or against the current.
Towards: 24 mi/3 hr = 8 mi/hr Against: 16 mi/4 hr = 4 mi/hr
Now, we know that the velocity of the boat with the current would be:
Vboat + Vcurrent = Vwithcurrent
Similarly, the velocity of the boat against the current would be:
Vboat - Vcurrent = Vnotcurrent
Thus, we can set up the system of equations by replacing those variables with our known velocities.
Vboat + Vcurrent = Vwithcurrent --> Vboat + Vcurrent = 8 mi/hr Vboat - Vcurrent = Vnotcurrent --> Vboat - Vcurrent = 4 mi/hr
So, you can add those two equations together like this:
Vboat + Vcurrent = 8 mi/hr +) Vboat - Vcurrent = 4 mi/hr --------------------------------- 2Vboat = 12 mi/hr
Thus, Vboat = 6 mi/hr
Then, Vboat + Vcurrent = 8 mi/hr --> 6 mi/hr + Vcurrent = 8 mi/hr
So Vcurrent = 2 mi/hr! :)
