Of Reflecting and Reconciling
The past few days had been agitated: a lot of school works, misunderstanding with some friends and batch mates, conflict with some schedules and the like. But fortunately there was this retreat which was held Yesterday until this afternoon (February 24-25). During the retreat almost all of us became emotional and perhaps this is because of the grudges that we all hold inside us. May be it with our own families, friends and those persons who had been aloof to us.
The retreat edified and taught us with a lot of things, a lot of values and new knowledge about life. Aside from this, the retreat served as a way for us to reflect about life, about how lucky and fortunate we are to be living the life we have. Together with our parents, families and friends. We were able to reflect about the the wrong doings and the short comings that we’ve made. Aside from this the retreat that we’ve had gave us the opportunity to be reconciled with those people who used to be close to us but became aloof due to some reasons. Reconciling with people was never easy, it takes a lot of valor before an individual would approach that person. But with God’s grace and mercy we were able to fix things. And it was just so relieving, knowing that you don’t hold grudges anymore. Knowing that you are now okay again, you are now back to the old times. Perhaps not everything you used to have abefore would happen and will still be there, but the thing is that you are both in good terms and you wouldn’t feel that awkwardness between the two of you, unlike before.
For me there are two highlights during retreat and these were the Affirmation and that moment where you were asked to go to the center together with the person you want to say thanks or to say sorry to. The Affirmation was indeed a great experience for me and for all of us, because we’re all given the chance to talk and to reconcile with our friends even those who are from the other section. While the second highlight was also a great part of the retreat. Because during this activity, an old friend of mine approached me and talked to me. We talked about that things that weren’t clear between the two of us, the misunderstanding and the conflict that we’ve had. We were able to make things clear and that made us friends again. And I am truly thankful it happened.
So as our retreat end, I am really hoping that what we’ve learned during the event will stay within all of us. That may all the learning will still be stored within us. And I also hope that the retreat had bind us even closer to one another and to everyone in our batch.
She's been waiting so long to die, and already she's opened up her wrists like the gates on white picket fences and poured out flowers to prove that not everything is so perfect. She says it tastes like bile every time she breathes and she is so fucking tired of smiling while her body is trying to heave. Water goes down like soot, and she's swearing this is the last time. She's telling everyone she's sorry, wishing she was stronger but her limbs are already too sodden with the pain dripping from her doubts to carry her any further
