Azolla (Azolla filiculoides) is an aquatic fern that some call a weed. We grow it in tubs because its full of protein and other goodies. The chickens love it and the rabbits and worms will eat it. That all makes it an important supement to a sustainable garden.

One of my little inventions. It sits over the 90mm pipes that reach down to root level by each tree and allows us to fill that pipe plus another 11 liters. The filled container then drains slowly and deeply into the soil below the mulch, ensuring that there is a good reservoir of water there for the trees to drink throughout the Summer. We have 2 of these devices and rotate them around, from tree to tree.
