Using High-Quality Aluminium Light Housing for Security Reasons
Good lighting plays a very important part in daily life, but it is often taken for granted because it is expected to do its job without fail. It is a vital element in almost every type of security which could be for a factory, industry, commercial establishments, utility areas, airports, seaports, car parking and even homes, and it does it well by preventing arson, theft, and/or other kinds of damages.
One of the key points in providing this kind of lighting is it requires the use of good quality floodlighting, to cover the area being protected. While earlier, these lights were used to be fluorescent, sodium, or incandescent, but today most of the lighting fixtures use Light Emitting Diode or LED lamps. These lamps come in a special light housing which can withstand very severe weather conditions, especially if they are used outdoors for the streets.
The light housing is usually made from aluminium extrusion, a process used to transform aluminium alloy into various items with a predetermined cross-sectional profile. Aluminium is the favoured metal used for making these light fittings because it is very malleable and strong; it also can withstand extreme forces of nature, which makes it the perfect item to house LED street lights.
Aluminium die-cast alloy is the favoured metal for manufacturing an LED light housing as it has properties of durability, strength and possesses a very high resistance to corrosion, which makes it perfect for use in various high security exposed areas. There is some heat production in LED lights, especially from those lamps with high wattage, and the aluminium heat sink, which comes as part of the fitting, disperses most of the residual heat emitted, especially if the lamps are on for a long time.
