i’ll give you everything i have.
i’ll teach you everything i know.
i promise i’ll do better.
tony is not cut out for giving advice.
he’s known this and been reminded of it too much throughout his life. teachers, tutors, his parents always muttered about how he spent too much time focused on himself to ever be able to care about anything else. he never let that affect him, but now, that truth is reflected in your tear-filled eyes.
tony stark was 21 when his parents died in an accident. but his sister? you were barely 16 when your world was changed forever.
the funerals passed quickly enough, but the grief is something that lingers much longer than the faded scent left on their clothes that you sometimes wear on nights you can’t sleep.
tony stark is not cut out for giving advice, especially when it comes to handling emotions. but that’s not what you’re looking for and he can see that in the way your hands shake and your lip trembles. you don’t want to feel your emotions anymore. and that’s something that tony does excel in.
wordlessly, he passes you a flashlight and asks for you to hold it for him as he builds. distant music plays and slowly but surely, the beam of the light stills as your breathing evens out.
months pass and tony sets up your own corner for you to join him in the lab when your thoughts get too loud. on the nights where your eyes seem more glazed over than normal and you don’t sarcastically complain about the mess in the lab, tony let’s you control the music.
tony stark might not be cut out for giving advice, but my god, that doesn’t stop him from trying his damn best to help his sister.
