Snowy holiday starter for @lightinthesand specifically tailored for Rie
The snow crunched softly beneath Colt’s boots as he walked through the winding paths of Central Park. The snowfall was steady but gentle, blanketing the world around them in a hush of pristine white. Colt glanced sideways at Rie, who was walking just slightly ahead, her dark hair catching the occasional snowflake. It gleamed like raven feathers in the dim light of the park’s old-fashioned street lamps, a striking contrast against the wintery backdrop.
He shoved his hands deeper into the pockets of his coat, the chill biting at his fingertips despite the gloves. Colt wasn’t one to get overly sentimental, but there was something about the quiet magic of the park tonight—something about the way the snow softened the edges of the world and turned even the mundane into something enchanting. And maybe, just maybe, it had something to do with her.
“You know,” he started, breaking the silence, his voice warm against the cold, “if I’d known I’d be walking with someone who looks like they just stepped out of a holiday movie, I’d have worn something a little nicer.” He grinned, his tone teasing but his gaze sincere.
Rie’s laughter floated on the frosty air, and Colt couldn’t help but chuckle along, the sound settling in his chest like a crackling fire.
“You ever notice how quiet the city feels when it snows like this?” he asked, looking up at the swirling flakes before glancing back at her. “It’s like the world finally stops long enough for you to catch your breath. Not that I mind it when it’s noisy, but... this is different. Special.”
He paused mid-step and turned to face her, his boots sinking into the snow. “Anyway,” he added with a wry smile, “thanks for letting me drag you out here tonight. It’s nice to have good company... especially when it’s freezing.”
The playful grin he flashed her said more than his words ever could—about how much he meant them, and about how maybe, just maybe, this night was more special because she was here.
