Unfortunately many many people do not understand the unthinkable position we are in. To not be able to work and do what we love is heartbreaking enough without worry as to how we pay the bills and continue to keep our life’s work and businesses afloat. The irony really is that every person in the events industry could safely organise absolute any situation with H&S RAs etc at the absolute heart of it and has done for years! Ultimately let us work safely and if not support us. (Notice the smile but the loss of sparkle in the eyes. if you have events and entertainment friends pls check they are ok) To highlight that the live entertainment and events sector urgently needs support from governments to survive the Covid-19 crisis, TODAY is Global Action Day. Across the globe from 8pm local time, thousands of venues and places of work will #LightItInRed alongside unique shafts of light, projections, art installations and outreach to government officials and media to raise awareness and drive change. I stand in solidarity with my creative brothers and sisters who who have spent their whole lives committed to their art, following their dream, their passion, sacrificing a safer and more ‘normal’ life to be able to fulfil what they have been put on this planet to do, and have been forced through no fault of their own to be out of work, with little or no assistance, forgotten by our governments, disregarded as an industry, and hung out to dry.
