The 2017 leg of Coldplay’s Head Full of Dreams tour, which arrived in Cardiff yesterday, marks 15 years of Oxfam working with the band. In that time, over 60,000 Coldplay fans have signed up to support Oxfam campaigns to highlight unfair trade practices and the plight of refugees.

Coldplay has been among Oxfam’s most high profile and vocal supporters, using their worldwide success to help Oxfam campaign on all five of their tours in over 50 countries. Frontman Chris Martin first travelled with Oxfam in 2002 when he went to Haiti. Since then he’s visited coffee farmers and visited projects in India. Chris Martin said: “As a band, we’re really proud to have had Oxfam on the road with us for the past fifteen years. It’s given our incredible fans the chance to show their support for campaigns from Make Trade Fair to supporting refugees.”

Throughout the week we will be publishing different videos and photos from our time together. Here’s a special performance from Oxfam’s Make Trade Fair show in 2002. The band joined Noel Gallagher in a special performance of ‘Live Forever’. Let us know what you think!

A small dedication with a lot of love!

Tonight as the sun was setting in Brussels on Coldplay’s second show, the band made a truly inspiring gesture and dedicated Everglow to a group of people who need a lot of love and it couldn’t be timelier.

We arrived in Brussels just a few days ago, to play two shows in the Koning Boudewijnstadion an older semi-open air venue which holds 50,000 fans per night. For Oxfam’s Stand As One campaign the last few days have been important in Europe. On the 21st June EU leaders met to discuss the refugee crisis and the countries’ action plan on supporting people with conflict in their countries and those making the journey to safety. In the first six months of this year, European Council President Donald Tusk reported that 1,900 people have died at sea making the journey from Africa to the EU. These are in innocent people, searching for a safer place to call home.

On reading newspapers and social media channels it’s easy to let the news take over us and forget the people behind those stories.

Tonight the band helped us see these people by dedicating Everglow to those who need our love; asking fans to send love their way, whether they were in Manchester or Syria. It was a gesture that illustrates our campaign so nicely. Stand As One is about sharing the love and standing up and showing solidarity with all those who fleeing conflict. So far 30,000 Coldplay fans have shared the love by signing up and wearing their Stand As One Coldplay tour wristband to show their support to those in Syria and all over the world who are fleeing conflict.
