If I have to narrow down my wishes, it seems as if I should choose something that’s otherwise unlikely to happen? What an intriguing question! :)

So, I would wish for love, but I have love; I would wish for happiness, but I can make happiness; I would wish for beauty, but I experience beauty all the time. I suppose I would wish for a magical bridge or door that would allow me to walk into England, and allow Ruth to walk here. It would be right in my room… Thank you for asking, lady! So nice <3

When my mother was expecting me, one of her friends gave her a little sculpted porcelain lady with downcast eyes. The girl is holding out her skirt with both hands, seeming to look out from under her eyelashes at whatever she’s holding. Her hair is down, her face tilted to one side. Her skirts sweep the floor and are painted with a few violets. Since I was very small, whenever I’ve been home, I’ve tucked bunches of a particular small purple flower that grows outside our house into her skirt.
