(Renchan) lightning dreams
"He's giving me Apollo kid," Donghyuck says after popping his gum loudly, just in range of Renjun's ear. He doesn't get a reaction outside of a brief narrowing of his best friend's eyes but it's enough to make him smile for the moment. "There's something about him that is just... Apollo, you know?"

Protector -- A Jay McGuiness Oneshot
“Seriously, Nat. You owe me one,” I growl, glaring down at my little sister who ignores me and continues pushing forward through the mass of sweaty bodies pressing against us from every side. I grab onto her elbow, pulling her towards me just as someone pushes between us.
Natalie looks up at me innocently. It’s almost like we’re kids again: she’s twelve, with that pleading look, and I’m sixteen, the burden of our broken home weighing heavily on my shoulders, acting like an over-protective mom when all she wanted was a sister and friend. Five years later I’m still trying to protect her.
But she’s seventeen now, able to put up a fight. Nat shrugs me off, blonde hair whirling around her bare shoulders. The innocent look in her eyes has disappeared, replaced by a fierceness more characteristic of my own personality.
“You didn’t have to come,” she spits, fists clenched at her sides. “You’re only here because you’re overprotective.” She breathes out angrily. “Just leave me alone, Kristin. You’re not my mother.” With that she turns and the crowd swallows her.
“Nat!” I call futilely, watching with fear as her shining locks drift further and further away from me.
Somehow I wake up hours later, my face sticky with dried tears, blonde hair plastered to my skin. I glance around confusedly when I hear deep breathing and freeze with horror. Slowly turning, I brace myself for the worst. I glance over and see a handsome, curly-haired guy sleeping on the couch next to me. I jump up, hitting my head on a shelf above me and letting out a blood-curdling scream. “Who the hell are you?” I yell, backing away as he wakes and falls off the couch. “Where am I?” I spin around, grabbing at the nearest object and wielding it like a weapon.
“Whoa, whoa love, calm down,” the guy says in a British accent, hands in front of him. “I’m Jay, remember?”
I lunge at him. “I don’t know any Jays!”
He jumps up, catching me in strong arms. “Jay from The Wanted! You were at our concert last night after all.” Jay looks at me cautiously, his grip on me firm but gentle, and I suddenly realize I’ve seen him somewhere….Natalie’s posters.
“Oh my God, you’re Jay McGuiness! Is this your bus?” I exclaim, taking in my surroundings. He nods slowly. “How did I get here? And where the hell is my sister?”
Jay’s blue eyes sparkle. “I found you asleep under a tree hours after the concert. I tried waking you, but I guess you were talking in your sleep. You kept saying ‘I’m sorry Nat.’” He shrugs. “I carried you to the bus and put you down to sleep. ‘Bout an hour later a girl wandered over, begging us to help find her sister. We brought her to you and she wouldn’t leave your side all night.”
Just then Natalie emerges from the back of the bus. “Kristin! You’re awake!” she squeals, running to me. She wraps her slender arms around me and hugs me tightly, her body racking with sobs. “I’m so, so sorry, Kristin. I’ve been horrible to you. You were only protecting me and” –
“Shhh” I say, rubbing her back. “It’s alright, Nat. Everything’s okay.” She cries into my shoulder, and I feel a set of eyes on me. I turn and Jay gives me a small smile. I slowly reach out my hand to him. He takes it in his warm palm and gives it a squeeze.
“Thank you,” I whisper, a grateful tear slipping down my cheek. He leans in and kisses it away, and with it, kisses away my pain and fear.
If I Fall, My Heart Holds On To You (For Lightning--Dreams' contest)
“Babe, you ready to go?” Max asked, his voice echoing through the house. He stood at the bottom of the stairs, adjusting his tie in the mirror. When she didn’t answer, he called out again. He was met with silence so he walked up staircase and into their bedroom. He tapped gently on the door and opened it.
“Kathryn, are you...” He stopped abruptly when he saw her. She was standing in front of her vanity mirror, trying to get the clasp on her diamond necklace to work. The emerald green dress hugged her curves in all the right ways and her hair was up in a bun, soft curls falling across her eyes.
“Here, let me,” he whispered, standing behind her and fitting the clasp together. He placed his hands on her hips and she relaxed against him, turning to kiss his cheek.
“Wow,” was all he could say, his eyes drinking in every inch of her.
“Wow yourself,” she said, turning around and wrapping her arms around his neck. She laughed when she noticed that he was staring at the skin that was exposed by the plunging neckline of her gown. She cleared her throat and he looked up, a blush making its way to his cheeks. He gave an embarrassed grin and pulled her closer, placing a kiss on her forehead.
“Here, let me fix your tie,” she said, pulling it off of his neck. She undid the mess of a knot he had made and wrapped it back around him, placing it under his collar and tying it perfectly. “Nervous?”
“I always am,” he said, his eyes suddenly serious. “I never like these award shows. We never seem to win.”
“You’re always a winner to me,” she said, her hands moving to smooth the fabric of his suit jacket.
“I know, baby. But it would be nice to win for once.” he said. He wouldn’t meet her eyes. She reached her hand up, tilting his chin so he was forced to look at her.
“And you deserve it, you really do. I know it’s frustrating, but the music business is strange. You know that as well as anyone. So I want you to know that, no matter what, I love you more than anything. And the fans will always love and support you. You mean the world to them.”
He finally smiled at her, resting his forehead against hers.
“You’re perfect. I don’t think I tell you that enough,” he said, his eyes sparkling. She bit her lip and raised her eyebrows.
“What are you thinking, Kathryn?” he asked.
“Just remember that, win or lose, you get to come home to this,” she said with a mischievous grin. She pulled away and spun around in front of him, laughing at how his eyes widened when he saw the large slit up the side of her gown.
He spun her around one last time before grabbing her and pulling her into a kiss. As they pulled away, Max reached his hand up to tuck a stray lock of hair behind her ear. His fingers grazed the two small hoop earrings that pierced the top of her ear.
“You like them, don’t you?” she asked with a smile. He nodded and kissed her one last time before grabbing her hand.
“You ready?” he asked.
She nodded before taking one last look in the mirror. He stood next to her and wrapped his arm around her waist, his hand resting on her hip.
“Damn, we look good,” he said and she laughed as he pulled her out the door.
