“Old George up on the hill said he saw it too the other night, tall as a tree, standin’ in one of his fields.”
“Yeah, well, George also likes to make up stories about how he chased Bigfoot off his farm every other Saturday.”
Calvin had eavesdropped into the conversation between the two middle-aged men at the booth behind him for about five minutes now and the sound of the waitress setting his plate on the countertop startled him. “Whew, thanks, you scared me!” He admitted with a charming smile and a hand on his chest; eyes raking over the practically-overflowing meal of sausages, eggs, bacon, pancakes, hash-browns, and biscuits. “Looks great!”
The waitress offered him a smile before trudging off to serve someone else; the place was popular at this time of day. He tucked into it with no real hesitation. The time post-Harvest was always an uneasy transition. Cornell was constantly at the back of his brain, clawing at the edge of his consciousness, and always, always hungry. It was insatiable.
Calvin knew for a fact that this massive meal would do nothing to lessen the empty feeling in his gut in the long run, but it was a temporary fix. As he shoved a whole egg into his mouth and swallowed it down with the help of a gulp of lukewarm instant coffee, his eyes turned to the woman sat next to him along the sit-down counter.
“H’y,” his words were initially muffled as he swallowed again, “Could you pass the—yeah, them! That’d be awesome, thanks!” He pointed with his spare index finger at the packets of sugar and jam and syrup just out of his reach, but right next to her. He flashed her a similarly-charming smile. “Can’t finish a feast like this without some fuckin’ maple syrup, right?”
lightningandknives replied to your post: here are all of jane’s scenes in emerald city
Wow that voice
i know right
lightningandknives is just THE BEST and, like, all of the mun's verses for Kara are just so, idek how to describe it, but they're awesome!! :P Very unique, and every thread they have, whether its Kara in one of her many verses or not, shines such a strong light onto the character. I know she's an OC but the mun writes her SO well!! You can see all these different sides of her which really show how detailed this character really is! GREAT JOB to the mun!!!

Deana had fallen into a new routine with her mom since Sammy left. It was different, of course, and they, more often than not, took on two cases at once instead of one (which meant they both went to do the cases solo), but that was fine. She was a big girl, after all.
Weird things kept happening in this little town that ‘couldn’t be explained’. A newspaper article on it had caught Bobbie’s eye who’d then told Joan about it, which is how Dee knew about it. She’d figured, at first, that maybe it was a ghost, or Hell, even a witch, but she needed to do quite a bit of recon to figure that out first. Which, led the hunter to the local motel. It was a bit too much on the outskirts of the town for her liking, but she could get her shit done there.
She’d checked in the day before and planned on getting herself ready today (in her best FBI pant-suit) to go down to the police station to ask her questions. Being human and all, she did need some sort of breakfast to eat before that, of course, which had been why she’d left her room. Vending machines were always stocked with the breakfast of champions! And, maybe she’d bought herself enough snacks to last a few days, but it wasn’t like there was anyone around to judge her for that. They didn’t know her here! Nor did she very much care what they thought of her anyway.
As the hunter was just about to put her key card in the door, a little girl caught her attention out of the corner of her eye. At first, Deana wasn’t going to say or do anything, but she looked around nonetheless. No one had checked in since she had, and she hadn’t seen the kid around yesterday… Was she alone? Awkwardly standing there in front of her door, kind of looking at the kid and kind of just looking around, she waited for a moment to see if a parent would come back to pick up their kid. But no parent came. Should she do something? She should probably do something. What was a little kid doing all by herself on the outskirts of town? How’d she even get there?
The blonde still had a handful of candy and chips, but kids liked junk food (as was the reason she did too), so that should be fine. Putting the card back into her pocket, Dee walked up to the little girl, speaking as she stepped closer as to not scare her.
“Hey, kiddo. You waitin’ for your mom here?”

The girl was something not human. Kat couldn't tell what, exactly—demon or some other creature—but it made little difference. She was, so far, the most fascinating being she'd encountered in the last few hours. Humans had come and gone, walking the same familiar paths, auras glowing with varied emotions ranging from happiness to despair. No one had quite caught her eye like this one.
Kat had a decision to make—follow and further observe, or let the girl continue and have opportunity slip away.
It wasn't a hard decision to make.
She slipped into the shadows and they pulled her along in pursuit.

“Excuse me...are you alright with dogs?” Nanna felt it was simple courtesy to ask anyone she happened to see in public when it seemed like Margo was eager to approach them. While a golden retriever wasn’t exactly the picture of intimidation, it still seemed wise. “She just seems curious about you.”
@lightningandknives
“Look, whatever business you got here, get it over with. I don’t need other people like us crawling all over my turf and my cases.” She could always tell when another hunter was up her ass, there was just a vibe they gave of to those in the know.
