was it simply some doomed fate of his to collide with another world seemingly apart from the source, a punishment perhaps for something ( or rather, a few things ) which if given the chance of a rewrite, he would undo so eagerly? or maybe something else this time, untouched by the exarch’s hand, was at play, a likelihood which grew and grew as the world revealed itself to him bit by bit. a strangeness washed over it; mechanics he did not entirely recognise but looked similar to the concoctions dreamt up in the garlond workshop. but as much as he wished to spy the silver-haired engineer, no cid garlond appeared from within those contraptions as they hurtled down the street.
an eeriness fell over the cityscape, mostly due to the absence of sun despite the time seemingly still the middle of the afternoon. blocked by the moon’s shadows, the world’s light was instead filtered and almost crimson because of it. ominous. he disliked it immensely.
whilst wandering however he did spy several others who had also taken to eyeing the eclipse with worried expressions; brows furrowed and gazes narrowed towards the phenomenon. he quietly passed them by, drawing little attention despite the clearly disgruntled picture he painted of a clearly new arrival. but he was no stranger to suddenly complex and alarming scenarios. he listened, ears and eyes both peeled for details on the whys and whats.
a large crowd stood up ahead, all pointing and posing aloud questions of the same nature. people spilled out into the street, leaving the large vehicles roaring in frustration like growling, snapping hounds. but the crowd seemed unbothered. thancred almost passed them by entirely, but in glancing across the sea of faces he spied one he thought he recognised. a double take. no. his mind played tricks, surely? the pinkness of her hair matching the flushed, confused patches of worry upon her cheeks, ryne was attempting to squeeze her way through the gathered group of people.
“ —— ryne !!!! “ he called out to her, hoping to overpower the grunting of the engines nearby. they caught each other’s gaze and her panic made itself plain to him. the group seemed unable to budge, as if the small girl’s frame was simply unseen about their knees. thancred darted over, pulling people aside by their shoulders and causing them to curse in his face. “ mind yourself stranger, i have no qualms in testing to durability of this blade. “ he hissed back at them, seeking out one of ryne’s petite hands amongst the chaos.
“ ryne, it’s alright, come this way. take my arm. “ a softer voice, eyes wide with concern and care, before he narrowed them at yet another undesirable who chose to push back against thancred’s own. “ i said watch it! let us pass and you’ll have no trouble from me. “ ( *゚— @lightsoracle
