Poe lightspeed skipping
Day 3 Clean of the First Order
It has been three days since I left the First Order and my life has already dissolved into chaos. Today, we were en route to Yavin 4. The journey went smoothly for the first hour with Kaleb sleeping in his Antigravity Shuttle Cradle, the droids lurking in the back and Millicent asleep in my lap as I argued with Dameron about his choice in music. Then, the shuttle radar alerted us to the presence of a nearby Star Destroyer. Dameron panicked, thinking that Pryde was out to kill him and drag Kaleb and me back to the First Order, and decided to try an escape technique he invented himself.
He called it “lightspeed skipping”. Dameron claimed that lightspeed skipping would allow us to escape our foes while taking in breathtaking views of the galaxy “like Aladdin and Jasmine in ‘A Whole New World’” (whatever the hell that means). In reality, all lightspeed skipping achieved was landing us stranded with a short-circuited hyperdrive and a broken engine in the middle of the void of space. We are now parked in an asteroid crater, waiting for the Starship Towing Company, while Dameron attempts to contact someone called “Uncle Lando” who will allegedly solve all of our problems.

Day 2
The Internal Logic of "Light Speed Skipping" Or "Hyperspeed Skipping"
Okay, I have to say I'm really happy that I am able to read "Poe Dameron: Free Fall"
WARNING: SPOILERS FOR THE BOOK "Poe Dameron: Free Fall" IN THE COMING POST!
IF YOU WANT TO READ THE BOOK UNSPOILED TURN BACK NOW!!!
________________________________________
I don't know why, BUT! I do know there is an internal logic! In "Poe Dameron: Free Fall" in Chapter 14, page 108 it is mentioned and taught to Poe by Zorii (Yes the same one we see later in RoS) and the Spice Runner's of Kijimi!
Excerpt from "Poe Dameron: Free Fall:"
"'Are you familiar with hyperspace skipping?' Tomosso asked.
"Poe almost said yes, scared of seeming ignorant in front of Tomosso. But now wasn't the time t protect his ego."

See he and the Spice Runners of Kijimi were escaping imprisonment by a rival gang, the Zualjinn, and its in this moment he's taught about hyperspace skipping or what Poe calls it in the RoS "light speed skipping."

"'No, but if its something I can learn in the next ten seconds, I'm open to it,' Poe said, turning to his terminal breifly to veer around an unexpected wave of debrits. 'What can I do?'
'Zorii?' Tomosso asked, looking toward the other terminal. 'You probably know the specifics better than I do.'
'Its risky,' Zorii said, her voice grim. 'But it can buy us some time until Marinda can pinpoint that tracker. **Basically, we hyperspace jump along a series of preset coordinates. They're supposed to seem random to the ships on our tail, but their not. We're dragging the Zualjinn along with us, to dangerous places we know--'**
'And they don't -- so they get jammed up and we keep running,' Poe said with a nod. "That's how we shake them off. Got it.'"

This was a few weeks into his tenure as a Spice Runner of Kijimi at the tender age of 16! He already had known how to hyperspace skip or lightspeed skip for HALF HIS LIFE by the time he did it in RoS!
This means either Poe had been working on plugging in coordinates as they flew away from the TIES.
"I'm sorry! I know! I know!" <-- he says to Chewie as he crashes the Falcon into a wall (Debunking someone's notion that Poe doesn't care about the Falcon -- what utter Bantha Poodoo!)
OR!!
He had put them in even before leaving base.
OR!!
Han or Lando already had some coordinates programmed into the Falcon for **THAT** very purpose!
OR!!!
Its a combination of ALL THREE!
We end up seeing places we've seen before like Cloud City, and places we haven't like the moon with the spikes!
I don't know why most Fans are up in arms about this, but I CAN tell you how it has an internal logic in the universe! Isn't that wild?!
