I spent a half year of my life in Italy, in Rome. (I came back about a year ago.) When I look back at the this time it seems strange and it's like I've never been away, like nothing changed. But: A lot has changed.. I went there and had a new family, a new school, new classmates, new teachers, a new city. I lived in Rome! I'm still not able to realize this, because it seems to be so far away and now I'm back here. I got to know a lot of new people and I lost a few old ones. I wasn't sad about it, because you learn a lot in a half year and many things change. You have to make a difference between your real friends and the people that pretend to be your friends. As soon as you're gone they either miss or forget you. I made those experiences and I'm really glad about it! Rome is one of the most beautiful cities I've ever been to and it would take you years to discover everything. It would take you a lifetime. I have seen a few parts of it and it always amazed me to discover new things, to observe the people and to walk through the streets, the streets of love. Another thing I realized was, that a half year isn't long enough to get to know someone. I barely have any contact with my Italian friends. It's a pity, but you can't stay in contact with everyone and you cannot maintain a friendship without making experiences together and without seeing each other. Being away from all the people you love can be difficult sometimes, but I was too curious about the new things to be sad. Rome is mysterious, open, history-charged and modern at the same time.

I wish I could go back and do it all over again, it was such a nice experience and I would love to do something similar.
