I was wondering more about col couple and i'm curious what do lovebirds do together in their day to day lives now that both of them can be at peace after everything that has happened? hmmm what do they do in their day-to-day now that everything’s more settled…

sorcerer work is still there, although a lot less!! and they handle a lot more on the admin side of things now (which i vaguely mention in the collection i think!)

satoru’s trying really hard to be a better partner 🥹 (whatever ‘better’ means, he’s just whipped!!! wants reader to feel all that he feels for em 🥹) & reader doesn’t ask for it, but he does all the cheesy things!! anniversary plans, those date ideas you can find on tiktok or ig reels, and he searches the top 10 romantic places for a picnic but forgets to check the forecast so it rains that day 🥹🤧😭

he tries to vlog some of it too!! for the ~~memories (and lowkey for the clout…) and posts it on his socials!! (yuuji leaves the sweetest comment and megumi gives a thumbs down 🤧) & it booms for a while but reader starts getting hate from like… 13 year olds… (he becomes a social media heartthrob unfortunately 😔) so he takes it down 😭 (and also—he sees comments on how hot reader is, some of them kind of… 😳, and he’s jealous so. nope. for his eyes only from now on!)

reader spends a lot more time w the students, or former students now, really & reader likes picking up new hobbies all the time!! trying out new things!! so there’s a rotation of the people that join in 🥺 (pottery with megumi, cooking with inumaki, yoga with yuuji (gojo joins in…. 👀🤨), dance with nobara 😭 and more!!!)

and!!! they move in together 🥺 officially 🥺 and his office is now theirs, also officially 🥹

i do love me a good papa!gojo 🥺 and i think reader would make such a loving parent too 🥺 so i can totally see it happening with them!! but!!! i don’t think it’s a priority, or something they actively think about/plan to happen 🥺

there’s definitely a lot of reluctancy with it (on both ends actually) —given that they’ve had a bit of experience with megumi and tsumiki despite being kinda thrust into it back then— they’d be more careful and conscious about it now, that if they do decide on mini-me’s, they want to be sure they can be present, in a world that’s safe and right to raise their own children 🥺

To me JJK became like one of those overhyped shonens with alot of promise at the beginning but as time passes the passion just dies out and it's painfully clear that Gege wants to be done with it, he even said something like that himself. Doesn't matter how devoted the fanbase might be, if you're writing something you're not passionate about then the audience can't really help there. It has to come from both sides.

Anyways, I don't regret dropping out of it at all. Besides that, how is life treating you? ♥️

sorry for not answering earlier, i always want to take time to answer you properly

I believe it is related to conditions of work for mangakas and the demand to drop a new chapter every week. In my opinion it is not consistent with the creative process that a good story needs. It seems to me like Gege always wanted to tell a story that was a coherent piece with its end, not a story that can keep ongoing for indeterminate time as long as their author has ideas. However, this story needs time to plan it and if the author is rushed to drop a chapter every week like taking bread out of the oven it is impossible for them to do corrections and to set pieces together. Gege has an idea of what is about the culling game and the next arc until the end, but devil is on the details, and it seems like they are exhausted right now and can’t make the battles of this arc to make sense in the overall story.

The most clear sign of this is how characters are taking turns to appear in the culling game when these events are supposed to happen simultaneously. JJK didn’t have this problem during the Shibuya arc when Gege knew how to let readers keep an eye on every character involved and knew when to make transitions between them to increase tension. However, in the culling game Gege seems like dropping ideas as it comes to them. without enough time to re-elaborate and make it work in the major narrative. Characters appear one at the time and the story only moves to someone else when the mini arc is done, this is the reason why the culling game feels like it is forever when many fights happen on the same day. 

Another big problem is how the new characters introduced (most of them) seem pointless, like filling because the protagonist needs to fight someone. And all of them (except for Higuruma) seem like easily interchangeable between each other because their mindset isn't shaping the fights like Mahito personality did with his. These fights left nothing to the story and this is the biggest problem, because in the past arc every fight made huge contributions to the story. For example, in every fight with the special grade curses we could learn about them, their view, their purpose, those fights have consequences for the protagonist even if they failed to kill them. But now, what contributions does Charles Bernard have to the story? What impact had it had on Hakari? The fact that sorcerers from the past and sorcerers who were given curse techniques by Kenjaku keep showing up and nobody asks them the right question or the narrative does nothing to let us know how that was possible is ridiculous. 

And all this is only getting worse. While Hajime had an impact on Panda and let us know about him, he was only fun to watch in relationship with Hakari. Even if he wasn’t pointless like others, Hakari and Panda could have faced another strong fighter and the result was the same because there is nothing of Hajime compromise here, like in the past happened with the special curses. Their goals, mindset and wishes were compromised and determined the way that the fight occurred. A good example is Higuruma vs Yuuji, which was the last well written fight.

Why is it only getting worse because we have Naoya coming back and i can’t explain what is the point of that (besides the fanservice). He was a great character in the way he portrayed how patriarchy works in jujutsu world and how he represented all of that as a opponent to Maki and what she represents. But that fight is over and Maki already went through that. Even if he drops bombs like “lets ask Mai” is only salt to the wounds because doesn’t really introduce nothing new to the problematic. The point of him letting Maki team up with Noritoshi? I can’t say for sure because now we have these two guys who are like a joke interrupting the fight. 

One last time, Hajime vs Hakari had great aesthetic moments, but the fight against Naoya worm is so messed up that it is hard to follow it. I can’t pick one single panel and said wow this looks awesome.

we can only save jjk by giving gege a one year hiatus to put things together and have rest

choso & yuuji: i love them omfg 😭 i know they’re fairly talked about but i love the brotherly bond between them so so much and i wish it was developed more 😭 (honestly yuuji can get along w anyone but i find him to be the perfect one to balance choso out 🥺)

maki & nobara: i know they’re talked about a fair bit too!! but i really wish we had more of them together 😭 would have been so badass for real ainsksjs they both have a lot of spunk to them & i’d love to see them go head to head with yuuji & megumi 😭 (whether platonic or not, i think they challenge eachother in the best way!!!)

shoko & utahime: i loooove seeing shoko and utahime friendship (or even not) in fics!!! and i know it’s kind of canon that utahime likes shoko the most out of the og trio but !! i wish they had more interactions now, older 🥺 honestly !! any interactions with the og’s now that they’re older 🥺 my heart rly just !!

megumi & maki: this is probably fairly rated but i love their interactions just bc they share the same angst towards their lineage 😭 and they’re really so badass together idk it’s so cool to watch

ijichi & yuuji: their dynamics are so cute 😭 it’s like a less talked about nanami & yuuji and i love it !! i wish there were more of them omg 😭 i think yuuji brings out the funloving side in anyone so when its ijichi + yuuji vs. nanami windkdnd that dynamic to me is just so funny jansjskdn

i’d love to see gojo and yuuta fight together!! also gojo and megumi (not against each other 🤧) tbh gojo fighting alongside anyone is cool bc he always fights alone 😭 if nanami and gojo ever fight together i would 🫠

I was reading tons and tons of metas regarding latest chapter on Satoru and now comparing it with your col series, it seems to me that in an ideal world/alternative, Satoru finally understands and acknowledges that people are around him, and that they understand him, and that they want to be in his life. His starting point is with col darling, hence his almost surreal affection, feelings and fondness for her(them) as a person and a living being. It's like as in this world, he is choosing to live as just Satoru and approach life differently.

I could be wrong with my analogy but i'd love to read your thoughts, darling, Sel. 🤍

i’ve been trying to avoid reading meta/analysis lately because that’s how i try to cope with what’s been happening in the manga! (but i also don’t rlly read a lot of them in general—just the ones i chance upon here and there)!

that being said, i like to see col as an escape from whatever’s happening to him canonically! though it may be based off some canon events, i like to think i’ve built a story that fits a version of him i personally love to write and explore!

which !! i think !! is what makes fanfic so wonderful !! i like how we’re all able to read and write about this one character, and have a thread of familiarity tying them throughout the different versions of them we can create. my col gojo might be different from another writer’s version of gojo (or even another kind of gojo i might write someday!) and that’s what makes it so great !!

similarly, we can read the different versions of these characters and have our own interpretations of them (and that is also what makes fanfic so great!! we can read the same character in so many different ways!! have different aspects of them highlighted, have them be put in diff au’s—all of it!!)

all of that to say that though i do depend on the past canon events to give context to col, i don’t intend to write col gojo with the idea of ‘how would gege write him’ !! bc i think !! there are different sides to him i might want to focus on that maybe aren’t in gege’s radar at all !! and that becomes my interpretation of gojo here on !!

col gojo’s relationship with reader is a slowburn, one that’s been a decade in the making, and there has always been a satoru that reader knows and loves him for being. his hesitancy for a relationship (at the start), at least for me, stems from many things!! and how he chooses to navigate through that also happens for many reasons—which i hope are all seen and conveyed in the pieces i’ve written for col!!

YES. FINALLY. FREEDOM. i think it's pretty clear jjk is going to wrap up soon LOL so im excited to take a personal break from gojo and then write a couple of more fics to conclude it! (plus probably some epilogue/nsfw/domestic stuff) i don't want to get too hasty bc i would ideally like to know the ending before anything too concrete. (can't have gojo saying shit like 'i'll never leave you' and then akutami killing him off in the last chapter 😭😭😭) but regardless of the potential ending lmfao i do have an envisioned ending for the two which will possibly supersede jjk canon depending on how i feel about the ending HA
