thinking about mike and will getting an apartment. they’ve finally escaped hawkins. it’s a brand new start in a fresh city. it’s the start of the rest of their lives, finally free of the horrors that have haunted them for so long. the furniture is cheap but they manage to find a few pieces that are are cozy. they have a closet piled with blankets for whenever will gets too cold and memories of the mindflayer follow him around. they have a drawer for their favourite teas and hot chocolate and a cupboard full of mugs with cheesy sayings on them. against the wall of their living room is a bookcase filled with a mix of schoolbooks and their favourites. the shelves are littered with old action figures and toys that they brought with them from home. they get a two bedroom at first, though the second bedroom is really only ever used as will’s painting studio. they share a bed in a room which they decorate with posters of their favourite movies and music artists. the rest of the house is decorated with will’s artwork, both old and new. binders filled with notes for campaigns lay across the kitchen table and papers filled with mike’s scribbles are left absentmindedly on the counters. light streaks through the windows and the apartment is warm. it’s a safe place they can come home to, made all the better by the person waiting for them.
