My mouth is dry.
(wha episode 13 spoilers)
I am amazed by how music, voice acting, and animation amplified the emotions in every scene. How chilling Agott’s fear was (the wide eyes, the scream, the broken dreams). How terrifying the Euini scene was (the voice change, the black-and-white, the eeriness). How —I am sorry, I need to point it out in a separate sentence — how good Joshua Waters was, how stern and how tortured, how strong and how hurt they sounded in the final scene. The final shot — Coco’s hand reaching out in tremble, the light swirling around Qifrey, like a halo of a guardian — despite all, a caring master who risked his life to protect his apprentices even wounded. What a wonderful way to finish the first season, dedicated to us constantly questioning Qifrey’s trustworthiness with his sacrifice, with the words — ‘Stay close to me. Very close’. Because despite all, the girls — and the viewers — are willing to stay close to Qifrey. To be protected. To find answers. A flawed saviour.
