What makes you think I’d support these actions?

I have spoken out against publicly organized witch hunts against fans who believe Louis and Harry are a couple, notably FIMQ, and, at some point, indeed I thought they went too far with Amy as well. I think that is the only time I’ve publicly spoken out in support of Amy. That doesn’t mean I support every single thing she does and says.

It’s not a very healthy thing to think in black and white - people are not all good and not all bad. Amy has been very important as a visible LGBTQ+ woman in this fandom - I once had a conversation with Angela/lapelosa who was here before me and without whom I wouldn’t be here, and she said she wouldn’t have been here if Amy hadn’t already been here before her. Being a visible “loud” lesbian, Amy created a space for other LGBTQ+ women in this fandom. And Amy has done incredible things for the charities which, in turn, has given the 1D fandom a lot of credibility. She has done all those things, and then she has also done things I do not support. I follow her on and off. I have in the past unfollowed her because of her tone which sometimes comes off as rude to me, and which I’m not a fan of, and because of the way she sometimes speaks about some of the women around 1D. Some of the examples you point to are amongst them. At times I’ll refollow to keep up with things Louis going on - she does an amazing job at keeping up with Louis too - and then I’ll unfollow again when I feel I cannot stomach another post dismissing Briana’s looks. I can disagree with that and still recognize the good things she’s done and is still doing.

And the fact is that no one deserves a public witch hunt. Not Briana’s family, and not Amy herself. In democratic societies everyone has the same rights - and even people who break our laws have human rights. In the past, Amy has broken not kept to standards I tried to hold myself to (not saying I always succeed) and would like to see others hold themselves to, but that doesn’t mean she deserves to be harrassed.
